I was there too, I hadn't far to travel to get to Loftus Road as I was living in Notting Hill Gate at the time. You're right there weren't many games played that weekend because of the weather. Still remember the wicked bounce the ball took off the pitch for their goal which deceived Horn because there was no way the ball would have behaved as it did on a conventional pitch.
I lived in Cambridge and my windscreen wash froze up all over the screen half way down the M11. I had to stop on the hard shoulder and scrape it all off...
Was there and doing well then just seemed to drop off the radar which was a shame as he was a decent keeper
Jeez .. them were t’days but still loved ‘em. To start car, you had to pull the choke out and hope it started before it flooded !!
Me too,the bounce of the pitch would have beat any keeper. If I remember correctly not many games were played that day due to the weather and we were on match of the day.
Me too. I remember looking over the perimeter wall at the pitch and it was like that fake grass you used to see laid across fruit and veg stalls at Barnsley Market with concrete underneath. It got QPR promoted I think.
Me too. Remember them housing away fans in the top tier behind the goals as the lower tier had snow piled in it. Very few games beat the weather so we made MOTD.
That game and ones at Blackpool and Oldham stick in my memory for being cold …. sends a shiver down mi spine just thinking about them
They had one of the 1st plastic pitches which made the ball bounce, variable and very inconsistent. I think that could be the game.
Agree with Grimsby. Went one Boxing Day or New Year Day and it was cold enough to freeze your wotsits off. Nothing to warm us up either as the match was shìte.
Good grief how did I forget about Grimsby. What about the temporary stand at Blackpool with gaps to the back of each seat giving ice cold rear ends
