As an aside, in the 1948 war in Palestine, there were several atrocities committed by both sides. One of them was an attack on a Jewish hospital convoy by one of the Arab groups (the Hadassah Medical Convoy Massacre) in retaliation for an earlier attack on a village. Our soldiers tried to stop the attack on the convoy (against orders) - one was unfortunately killed in action - the leader of them was "Mad Jack" Churchill, who was famous for fighting WW2 with a longbow, broadsword and bagpipes! Churchill was captured in 1944 after being stunned by a grenade(!) and escaped along with some of the Great Escape RAF officers and walked 100 miles before they were caught. He was released in April 1945 and walked 100 miles to join up with the Americans before being sent to Burma. Arriving just after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he was quoted as saying "If it wasn't for those damn Yanks, we could have kept the war going another 10 years!"

One of the most interesting veterans and a genuine hero.

Cruella Braverman has, I believe, called all pro -Palestinian marches 'hate marches' which automatically leads me to support the march.
Its free speech, its anti-war, some veterans will support it, its not anti- remembrance, its not disrespecting the cenotaph and its not on remembrance Sunday. It is possible to be pro-Palestinian and pro- remembrance.
Yet again the right- wingers and daily heil media have deliberately stoked division to get people 'angry' when there's no need

The only true ‘hate march’ would be one protesting against Suella Braverman. I’d be on it.

    A "bit" of a nob?
Understatement of the week. Personally I find the idea of his nazi lite henchmen "protecting" the cenotaph far more of an insult to our fallen than any Palestinian peace march.

I didn’t mention the march, I was inferring it’s appalling to ruin a memorial

    I completely agree with you.

I don't agree with lumping any scumbags that do that with the people marching in the name of peace some distance away from the Cenotaph.

I wasn't particularly arguing with you and I know you weren't championing Yaxley Lennon. I find his attempts to link himself to anything to do with the sacrifices made in the Second World War beyond despicable. If we were back in 1930s Britain that piece of scum would have been marching alongside Oswald Moseley wearing a black shirt.

According to Social Media, there are marches from both the National Front and the Football Lads Alliance to the Cenotaph on Sunday. Yet these are tolerated by those in power and the Daily Mail.

The British Union of Fascists opened offices in Barnsley and Doncaster, the Barnsley office was where the freezer shop (if it's still there) on Peel St stands. Fortunately they didn't last long.

Let 'em march on Sunday. The free Palestine march is on Saturday. Not a solitary brain cell between any of those fascist cuπts.

So people marching for peace (wanting a ceasefire) whilst kids are being bombed and are dying, shouldn't do so on a day that actually commemorates the horrors of war, because we live in a 'free world' so they should just 'give it a rest'?

Well done on deliberately ignoring the main point of that post. You know exactly what he meant.

Honestly, some folk need to give their heads a wobble before they ask people to stop marching in the very name of something they themselves are commemorating.

Brainless. Please don't go near a voting booth, cheers

I know what you meant about part of it and fully agree with the sentiment of peace , but just felt that point need to be made on behalf of the veterans who are certainly not there to commemorate the horrors of war.
