Slightly early this week because I'm on my honeymoon and have a fair bit planned for the rest of the week. A chance to briefly put last week's poor result in the cup behind us as we return to league action, and misfiring Derby County. The hosts are 3/4 favourites to continue the slight turnaround they made when last in league action, when they were 4-0 victors at home to struggling Northampton. That victory only puts Derby in 11th place in the home form table, with 11 points from 7 games so far. That being said, they are now 7 unbeaten at home in all competitions after losing their first 3. They of course face the best away side in the division, with the reds on 17 points from 7 away matches, and in all competitions, unbeaten in 12 games away from Oakwell over 90 minutes (6 wins 6 draws). Our record at Pride Park isn't a great one, with just 2 victories there in 15 visits and 10 defeats. Having lost on our last 3 visits however, we are due a result, with the last reds victory there coming courtesy of Conor Chaplin and Victor Adeboyejo goals. The Pride Park faithful have been very critical of their side so far this season, who sit 3 points behind the reds at present in 7th place. Both sides have conceded 15 goals so far this season, however the reds have 6 more goals in the other column. Referee John Busby has issued 55 yellows and 1 red in 10 games thus far, which seems to be about average these days. His red card was for Cafu, not that one, but the one who plays for Rotherham United on the opening day in their heavy defeat to Stoke. Primarily a championship referee, he last took charge of both sides the season before last in the Championship. He oversaw an already relegated Barnsley side lose 2-0 at home to Blackpool, our goalless draw away at Peterborough and our early season victory against Coventry, a game which saw 10 yellow cards. He took charge of both of Derby's games with Reading that season, when the rams took 4 points off the Royals. For me, this is arguably the toughest game so far. Derby's fanbase will expect them to win every home game. If we score early, I can see the home crowd turning, which could work in our favour, similarly to how it was when we beat them at Oakwell towards the end of last season. I honestly don't think either team is as strong this season, and I do think it'll be a tight game. I'm going for 1-1 with Cole being cancelled out late on.
Well at least you'll lose your virginity this weekend. Let's not consider refusal or wilful capacity. Perhaps like your bride, we'll get stuffed predictably. Twice without response.
I'm too jealous to bless horny post nuptials. But am heartened by the time you are spending off piste.
Unlike the last two weekends I'd be very happy with a draw. However, I suspect we'll slip to our first away defeat of the season in a close game. 2-1 to Derby
Firstly, and more importantly, congratulations to @Archey Secondly, it depends how much of a backlash they'd had since last Friday night, but I fear our first away defeat of the season. Probably a 0.2 or a 1.2 defeat
Strangely not feeling anything with this one. Without looking back, I think I’m right in saying we don’t have a great record against Derby away. On the one hand we could get a good reaction following the disappointment of Friday night, or we could be embarking on a poor run of form/ results. However, I’ll hazard a guess at a boring 0-0 or a 1-0 Derby.
