Wtf have the authorities done to the once wonderful game. Liverpool disallowed for handball. The handball, which was accidental in my opinion was 30secs before the goal, i thought it was if rhe goalscorer or assist handballed it and it lead to a goal. Whats next going back 10 mins to find a foul or handball. Rashfords red card yesterday never a red card. They have ruined the fecking game By re reffing the game from 200 miles away. The ref on pitch no longer knows wat he is doing or wat the rules are.
It's staggering just how poorly executed VAR has been, especially in this country. Clear and obvious error's is what it was designed for but instead they spend 5 minutes deliberating if somebody's left testicle is offside
Never a red for me. Clumsy play from Rashford, nothing more. No intent, not even a lot of force as it wasn't even much of a challenge, more an attempt to shield the ball. Football involves a lot of running, where people's feet inevitably leave the ground. Not only that, it's allegedly a contact sport, a lot of that contact being between people's legs and feet. I really don't see where we go next if red cards are being dished out for what was essentially an accidental tangle.
I'd be all for it. Seems to work pretty well in rugby. Although as we've seen with VAR and dissent rules, football seems capable of taking any initiative that works well in rugby, and making a total and utter mess of it.
Never a red in a million years.Only looks bad in still photos not in real time. It’s just two feet coming together in a tackle with no malice.Sending offs and bookings are a joke now.We have a player suspended on sat for 5 bookings I think and he hasn’t got a bad foul in him.It just shows how bad var is getting when they are doing adverts on tv taking the piss out of it.
For any that havent seen the Liverpool one its a totally ridiculous decision Under current rules I dont think its even handball as it deflected from his chest onto his arm and was clearly accidental- arm was exactly where it should be. It also didnt lead directly to a goal with several passes between it and the goal so again under current rules the goal should stand. You can possibly argue the rule is wrong and any accidental handball which ultimately leads to an advantage should be brought back under VAR but that isnt the current rule As for Rashfords sending off he moves his leg to shield the ball - by pure accident he catches the opponent on the ankle, no intent studs down foot 3 inches off the floor - not sure how you are supposed to move your leg if the foot cant leave the ground It looks bad with a still photo but really do we think we should be sending players off for that -not reckless not deliberate just unfortunate
As soon as you bin VAR people will be calling for it to be reinstated as the refs on the pitch are missing stuff and getting decisions wrong. VAR and reffing is a system, at the moment it's being done wrong, but it can be done right. It is done right in rugby but for some reason (and fans, players, officials, ruling bodies and coaching staff are all partly to blame) it isn't working in football.
why are fans to blame? I can see how its officials and ruling bodies and to some though lesser extent players and coaches but you've lost me at fans
I berated the linesman at the Horsham game for getting the offside wrong, gave him dogs abuse, I wasn't the only one. But we were all wrong, he got it right. We create an atmosphere of fear where it is more difficult for officials to operate in.
But thats nothing to do with VAR not working. All fans of all teams see marginal decisions in their favour but had VAR been available and shown on the screen like in Rugby it would have certainly stopped any criticism of the linesman in the situation you outline. Offside is usually a tricky one for fans as often they aren't in line to really see and also often you look after the ball has been played not at the time of impact so a player can be onside when the ball is played and off when the fan looks upfield. Doesnt mean the officials cant get it wrong. I was at Bristol this season level with the penalty spot and there were at least 2 clear offsides missed by the linesman who was well behind play. They weren't marginal and the players were clearly off before the ball was played.
Refereed for some twenty years…..couldn’t agree more. Wish all the refs went on strike until they did away with var….!
