Roberts.. Great goalkeeper Killip... average at the best Williams.. League 1 his level. Being played out of position Maël Giv..... Looks a good player Lopata... Shows promise and solid Okeefe... Dodgy defending. Good at going forward Cotter...Quick but flatters to deceive and little end product Mctee.. Slow and easily dominated for a big bloke Shepherd.. Still learning but shows promise Cadden... Capable at wing play ad good at crosses but no defender Kane.. talented and great passer but so times lacks motivation Styles... Talented but inconsistent and lacks bottle Connell.. Good player need him fit adap Russell.. Slow, appears to lack motivation and doesnt know what a forward pass is Cole.. Speedy and a confidence player. Needs a strike partner. Watters... Not up to the task. No physical presence but can finish if chances put on a plate for him Macatee... Puts himself about but can't finish or shoot on target Philips.. Not the same players as last season don't know why Jalo. Talented but still very young Cosgrove... Face doesn't seem to fit as to why... ask the head coach On paper we should have a good squad but the head co ach has changed the style and doesnt appear to know how to man manage the team. Opposition teams have sussed early on how to beat us and we don't have a plan B when an plan A isn't working. Some players IMHO biding their time for a January transfer which they will probably get.
Williams has always been a League 1 standard player, we saw enough of him in the championship to make that decision.
Williams seemed right enough last season as I recall. The role of wet nursing an otherwise completely novice defence is a big task in addition to being captain.
Imho asking too much of him this season with all the newbies. I've said this many times before his pace is his get of jail free card. He looks exposed with little balls over him and not great positionally. Our defence is better with him in it even though I've just stated all that. He now no longer has Bobby Thomas pointing, jesturing and covering for him but has lads learning their trade, big ask and he's bang out of form at the moment. It would probably be best to stick him rwb and bring Shepherd into back 3.
