Currently living in North Yorkshire in a rental for a few months. It's got useless tv reception. As we are only here short term I'm not going to sign up to satellite / cable TV or broadband. We have an old TV with HDMI connections. We've got unlimited mobile phone data allowances and very good signals. I'm thinking of getting an Amazon Firestick and watching live and catch-up TV by hotspotting from my mobile. Can I do this? Does anybody else do this? Does it work OK? I'm currently watching TV through the laptop off the internet, onto the TV. It's OK but a pain to find programmes and change channels. Any ideas or advice welcome.
What speed do you get on the mobile? Anything above 25mb and you should be ok, that's Netflixes recommendation for 4K streaming. You can always make use of the firestick afterwards if you are having to buy one to do it
Alternatively buy a cheap Google Chromecast from ebay. I got one for about £20 to use with our bedroom telly and it's ideal for Netflix, iPlayer and ITVX.
