So if we sack him, are we ok then with dropping down to mid table, and having to forget about this season. And maybe next season as well.
The longer we're stuck in this league, the worse its going to get financially, and sacking a coach/manager yet again, is not what we should be doing right now.
Yeah my patience is being tested at the moment with Collins, but we're 6th and there's still a lot to play for.
What worries me the most though, is the idea that keeps getting suggested. Is he even picking the players and tactics, or is it those 'above' him.

Playing Williams as centre back has been a mistake as wing back is his best position IMHO. I like Jordan Williams but he is no captain I'm afraid. Perhaps Connell will take on that role when fit and in the team.

I don't know, are you, you tell me lol.
I'm guessing a sacking will mean another unknown coming in, maybe for the rest of the season.
So we go back to square minus one yet again, and we have to pay him off again etc.

Collins hasn't demonstrated that he can produce a team that can deliver the level required to compete with the best in this substandard division. Nevermind the fact he has failed to deliver a team with an identity. A failed high press and a defence that cant deal with a simple ball over the top. Worried that the his blandness will see us becoming a tier three club for the foreseeable future.

Collins organised them and keeps picking one of the best wing backs in the league last season as a center back. And keeps playing the boring football we keep witnessing.

As for the idea of him 'losing the dressing room', its crossed my mind as well to be honest.
But that's not necessarily his fault is it, the players themselves deserve the flack, if its true that any of them might think that.

Can the people criticising the team actually come up with some suggestions on how we should be playing?

I’m not tarring everyone with the same brush but there seems to be a lot of Barnsley fans who’s tactical nous seems to be ‘they should press more’ without any explanation on how that would work.

To me playing pressing football with the personnel available to us would be stupid. If he was telling us to press high with Russell playing instead of Connell & a defence with a lot less height, strength & pace than last season then I would probably be the first to say he should go as the bloke would have lost his mind.

What’s the first thing that happens when you press teams? They go long. What does our team lack compared to last season? Height, strength & pace at the back. If you went long last season Thomas, Anderson & Kitching were 9 times out of 10 winning the header.

You can’t press high & leave yourselves open to been countered when Russell’s not very mobile & 2 of the 3 centre backs can’t sprint & none of them are aerially dominant.

I like De Givigney but he’s not big & he’s not fast, Lopata’s not fast either, neither is McCart. Not seen enough of Shepherd.

I’ve seen calls for McCarthy to come in to the back 3 instead of Williams but then the defence gets even slower & is more vulnerable to balls over the top & counters.

The other issue with the lack of height is that we’re far weaker at set pieces. Saturday’s a clear of example of it but there’s been a notable weakness all season.

It’s also clear that when Cosgrove isn’t fit we don’t have a target man. So we’re pretty restricted on how we can play. None of Cole, Mcatee & Walters are players that can hold the ball up well.

The more I think about it the more I think we are best suited to a possession style at least until both Cosgrove & Connell are fully fit & up to speed.

I haven't heard anything. I sit in the west lower mostly cos I feel a bit closer to the action and watch the interaction with the bench and the team. I don't claim to be an expert but the body language doesn't seem to be on the level it was Stendel, (his players loved him) and Duff (who they seemed to listen to intently and seemed to accept going off after 60 minutes was part of the game plan). Time will tell mate.

The improvements on the Commercial side to develop other revenue streams promised when the consortium first took over certainly seems to have been slow coming.

The press style that served us so well under Stendel, Val and Duff has gone and we now are resorting to a pedestrian, meandering style that does seem to be welcomed by the players and the fans. We sold our complete back line and replaced them with inferior and,/ or non league players plus we didn't have a preseason to give the head coach time to know his players. But it's now mid November and we are still persistenting with the same formation, style and personnel . Time for changes to be made as I feel supporters are not convinced by Collins and see another Schopp, Ashbagi headcoach who is out of his depth and not motivating the players.

For those who were unsure, and maybe waiting for this match tonight before deciding...
Does this performance and/or result change your mind, do you think Neil deserves more time.

That match told us nothing we didn’t already know.

Able to fashion chances and score goals against much weaker opposition but even against Horsham we allowed them to get a bit of a foot hold, create some chances. They ought to have scored at least one.

I’m still quite worried to be honest. Nothing seems to be changing and I’m loathed to pin all my hopes on a guy returning from long term serious illness.

Got 3 games to save himself for me. Not once this season have we played decent stuff for 90 minutes and it's getting worse
