Great post which cuts through any conspiracy theory speculation.

No guarantees he’s going to better money, his new role is on par with a demotion to the role he currently has.
We also don’t know if the club told him they weren’t renewing and left him with no choice.

Appointing a manager is a 2 way street. The club has desires and so does the manager. I think as fans, we all want to see our own youth develop and progress. So it makes sense this was discussed and part of the remit - also makes sense that the Bradford game was used for this. No issue there.

Khaled isn’t out of contract - he’s clearly served the club notice as part of his contract. Still being paid etc. no reason for him to go unless a replacement is found. The club confirmed it was done amicably. So whilst he may no longer be publicly facing, he is doing work….. we’re not that rich with resources to just let him go.

Relegation - limited staff and staff doing more than they should, is linked to relegation, and the fact the club has been a yo-yo club for the last 20 years, is partly the reason why. To build staff and also a squad, takes years. Sadly, with relegation comes financial cuts. It’s a vicious circle. If we can have a decent 4-5 season run in the Championship, it would really put us on a better footing all round.

    100%!
Seems like it's always the way these days. Analyse everything someone says to the nth degree which, potentially, ultimately leads to off the cuff comments becoming a news story.
In any case its quite within reason for an interviewee to be told by an interviewer what would be expected of them if they got the job.
It's also quite within reason for us, as a club, to focus on the development of a pathway for our youngsters...otherwise what's the point of us having a football academy?

The more worrying thing was that none of the non-youngsters in the team displayed anywhere near the standard of a bottom quarter division 4 side.

As individuals I would say some did display promise but as a team not so.

In fairness there was nowt in the first half & the second goal came straight after the break, between the 2nd & 3rd goals we were really poor but I think it’s fair to say it was pretty even until the 2nd goal. So it’s only a few minutes difference. We were dreadful after the 2nd though.

    According to the Chron. mate.

The chronicle understands. The New director of football (when he/she arrives) will work alongside Khaled and then his successor when he leaves. Doesn't read to me as though Khaled has gone.

Feels like an incredibly weak position to take if that's true. Verging on cowardly.

I've already noticed one of his biggest defenders on here has suddenly changed tact and slagged him off saying his entire tenure has been filled with mistakes as soon as it's been revealed he's leaving

I've kind of given him a free ride...thinking that new broom sweeps clean, when we had our board revolution.
As CEO he is the face of the club, originally I believed he had a good cv.....and what looked like a good pededigre. Unfortunately the mistakes have been many and I just cannot defend him anymore. As the head of our club/ business he has to fall on his sword, which he sort of has. I do think he's been a poor fit and has probably thought he needs a move....so we need to replace sooner rather than later.
Getting a director of football has been long over due....so well done the club there but whoever this person is will probably find that for now anyway they will be doing Khaled's job too....until a succesor can be found, which may take longer.
We are in a bit of lull at the moment....we desperately need some good news from somewhere....short term I hope that's on the pitch because off the field our business model has been poor....and that will take a little while longer.

When I saw that interview WT I thought Collins looks under pressure. Ether from himself, or above.. maybe both.
And that he's been asked to achieve with one hand tied behind his back. The " can't have it both ways" quip and also the mention of last summers sale's, and being replaced at a standard that are "not quite there yet". says to me he's fully aware of our defences short comings. And he's saying "give me a break here what do you expect'

It's why we go for ' young, up and coming coaches" They are that desperate to get a foot on the ladder that they'll agree to anything to get the job. Even down to us playing the tippy-tappy at the back stile. Everyone can see that we don't have the players capable of playing that way. And all it does is put us under pressure.. No one can tell me that Collins doesn't see/know that aswell.
And its why your Warnock's Wilders and Moore's wouldn't touch us with a bargepole.. because they wouldn't work under our remit.
I do feel for Collins, but there's still the fact he's not getting the best out of these players.
So what do we do, keep changing the coach every 6-12 months.?
I don't think it makes any difference to chop Collins..because the problems at Oakwell still goes way beyond the head coach.

Agree @Sopwith Camel. Poor as it is at the moment I don't want him out. There's no point. We're not good enough at the moment and I think we may have to be patient whilst some of our young players to develop but like you, I doubt we'd employ the sort of manager who could progress them any faster. And as you say, they also wouldn't work under our remit.

For me, there were three things that led to the FA Cup expulsion. 1) The obvious back office **** up 2) The fact that we had to play the replay in the first place, probably down to players' attitudes and 3) the bizarre scattergun approach taken to transfers in the last 12 months. Sending a striker out on loan, then recalling him and picking him. See also, Dallas signing, making his debut and scoring then being shipped out in the same window, The abundance of right wing backs at the clubs. Feels like we've gone back to building an inventory of stock, rather than buidling a team.

Not sure a DoF will have much impact on the last point, unless they can change the philosophy of the owners.
