I'm still in the no camp.. but. Was listening to talksport in the week and they were on about Warnock at 75. And about his ability, wherever he goes to get the best out of players. Make average players good. Think it's true to say that Mr Collins isnt getting the best out of ours.
Shut up you sausage. I'll have you a 20 quid bet to a charity of your choice Collins won't get us promoted this season.
Some of the comments on here are embarrassing. We were comfortably the better side today. We played far better than we did in the drab 0-0 a few months back at the same ground. Deserved 3 points. A silly pen to give away & a poor parry from a keeper have cost us. I know a lot on here are like sheep & follow the crowd but if you watched that game today & didn’t think we were comfortably the better side you don’t know what you’re watching. Defence & sub keeper are so weak which is the big problem. I’m terrified every time the ball comes into our box & I don’t think the back ups are any better. Combination of poor recruitment & a natural bedding in period costing us.
He's not playing a formation, or style that suits us. He did for a short while when McAtee moved to number 10. We cannot play Cotter as a wing back, but he needs playing in an attacking role. Should he stay, or should he go? He needs to learn from a match like today & Derby too.
I stand by my post and I’m not embarrassed by any of it. We played better yeah, for maybe half an hour second half. First half was a bit ‘all show and no dough’ - passing it round but getting nowhere. We didn’t deserve three points as we didnt create enough to score more than two and were crap enough to concede a penalty and a poorly saved rebound. We looked prettier on the ball than Lincoln. But no more effective or likely to get a result. We learned today that we can get at teams when the shackles are loosened. But we also learned he’s frightened to death to do it. For me, he doesn’t fit the mould of where we are. You can’t be cautious and defensive when the defence is the main weakness. We are going to concede, we just are. We’ve got good players in attacking areas though - let them have a go. Go full on Kevin Keegan. Why not? It might die on its arse but this approach isn’t working. We’ll score more than most, on a lot of occasions anyway I’d argue. He isn’t playing to the strengths of his squad, he’s not apparently capable of doing so on the evidence we’ve seen.
I think the obvious answer to the question of whether or not we'd be better off changing our manager is that it depends on whom we would get to replace him. We were presumably all pleased to see the back of Schopp, but we didn't know that his replacement would be no better. If we could get Duff back, which pretty clearly wouldn't happen, then I suppose we'd probably all be in favour of the change. There is no doubt that losing Andersen, Kitching and Thomas from the play-off side, along with both keepers and Norwood, has considerably weakened our squad and made things a lot harder for Neill Collins. Nevertheless, I think that a lot of the criticism of him has been justified. As for today's match, I cannot agree that a draw was a good result. If you are hoping to win promotion, the only good results are victories, other than away draws possibly against the top two.
I’m broadly with you. But the fact we are where we are following losing Anderson, Thomas, Kitching and the keepers. And not forgetting Luca/phillips not contributing for a variety of reasons. All replaced by (currently) poorer players. Maybe we should cut Collins some slack?
You sound like a kindly person, and kindness is a commendable quality, but your "maybe" suggests that, like me, you have your doubts about Collins. The problem is that, if he isn't the right man for the job and we wait too long to make that decision, we shall be very unlikely to realise our ambition of promotion this season.
Too early to be calling for Collins to go, we are a good team, we av a fair few above average league 1 players, keep the faith, C,O,Y,R. .
Failure to gain promotion this season could spell disaster for this club and see us in administration. Our owners are putting millions in regularly just to keep us going and that's after selling Collins, Andersen, Kitching and Duff. Who do we have to sell in the summer? Styles if someone looks at his international stats and doesn't actually scout him at Barnsley matches and Connell if someone Is willing to take a huge risk on him
This is the weakest L1 in a while. Next season it’ll be a whole lot stronger with the likes of Wrexham, Stockport and Notts Co probably getting promoted, all clubs on the up with sound financial backing. Then you’ll have Wednesday, Rotherham and whoever else drops down. All will be strong in L1. Miss out this season and we could be looking at this league for a long time.
Please, both of you, time out. I don't think public slanging matches are in any way helpful. Put each other on ignore if you need to, or sort out your grievances in private. You can also use 'report' to report specific posts, and one of the admins will deal with it the best way we can. Appreciate it gents.
