What time do people turn up to get on them? Decided to use the coach to Lincoln on Saturday and got down at what I thought was nice and early at 11 o clock for an 11.30 departure. Got on the coach to find it was almost full and only single seats dotted about. I'm not prepared to let my 10 year old sit on his own and we finally got sat down when the woman who was sat down at front from the coach company moved her bag. There was was some woman sat at front muttering about "turning up a last minute and expecting to get a seat" despite the fact her and her mate were taking up four seats because "we like to sit on our own". The woman who moved her bag told me when they arrived in the coach at 10.30 people were already stood waiting for it so some folk are sat on the coach for an hour before it sets off for a 90 minute journey which I just can't get my head around, its not a plane.
Sound like a bunch of sad acts turning up an hour before for a coach journey. Worse than the mutants you get congregating at the entrances to shops waiting for them to open because they have to be the first in and out.
Why dont they allocate the number on the seats. We do a seating arrangement to keep folk together. (If you go on a coach holiday. Seats are allocated together). If someone insists on 2 seats. Make em pay for the buggers. Really one of my pet hates. Selfish B'stds.
Sounds as though it's more a case of dis- organisation. And most folk arriving early so they can make sure they are sat together.
There were some ticket numbers on the passes I had on my phone but it appears its just a free for all when you get on the bus. At least we had the same seats coming back which wasn't the case when we went to Wigan and someone had sat in the seats we had on the way there which proper p1ssed me off
There is an etiquette of coach travel, so you'd sit in the same seats coming back as you did on the outbound. You'll generally find people on their own are happy to move for you if they get a double seat to themselves. To answer you, I tend to arrive 30 to 60 minutes before departure, just because of distance of travel to get to Oakwell. I prefer to go by train where possible though for the longer distances.
Sounds lax to me. If there isnt someone from the club to organise. Then imo the driver should insist folk have the seats allocated to em. I bet it's a happy crowd. All this, I'll sit where I want. culture needs sorting. Really does make life easier. Glad I'm not running em. Either they or me would have to give. But it would be them cos I wouldn't let the bus budge until all are sat with the right seats allocated. If a single books on. Another single will be sat at side of em. Move about if spare seats not an issue after got going. Just be kind and respectful to one another. As for the 2 ladies. As I've said. If you insist on 2 seats. Pay for 2 seats. If one of em is a nuisance to the club. I've an idea who she may be.
People aren't kind though. It was same when we got to the ground and I had to turf two teenagers out of our seats. What's hard about sitting where your tickets says.
I'd report the issue to the club mate if they are not aware. And they should issue a notice re seat allocation and strict rules. And if already in place. Reinforce em. Or I'd make other arrangements. Maybe a reason the club don't get the customers to fill more than one bus. Quite often Not all independent clubs do what we do. And some don't have the issue. As they generally all know each other or know the crack so to speak. It has made my life easier people respecting the seating arrangements. We do try cater for preferences if asked. And try cater for the less mobile to be at the front. Had no complaints. We've been doing it 28yrs. And have a large membership. And it's never been higher than it is now. Beacause we listen and learn. (And no, this is not an advertising campaign. We have closed the book,) just relaying how other outfits cope. And I've nowt else better to do than write on here. When I'm at a loose end. Best dash mi mrs sez pots want weshin.
How can anyone justify two people having FOUR seats ? Unless they have paid for four ( HIGHLY UNLIKELY) seats it's wrong and shouldn't be allowed, it's crazy!!!
Can't believe Women are allowed on football coaches. They are bound to take up more room. World gone mad.
I’d have thought 30 mins early is plenty of time, I’d have been turning up about 20 past. Getting a seat on a bus that’s been prepaid for shouldn’t be difficult and sounds to me like it’s a bit like where it’s the other users that are the issue that needs addressing. The 2 women with 4 seats would have done that even if you’d turned up at 10.30 too.
I can understand gking on club coach with ten a year old however for me I'd rather drive first b4 go on pop n crisp what's run like a school trip
Seats numbers are allocated, but those in charge are too lazy to implement it, so you're forced to get there too early or you're left with single seats.
And under the Radar mate just as we like it. Never needed to advertise. A fantastic crowd in the main. And all newbies made to feel welcome. They come from all over south and west yorks. keeps me busy lol.
I don't think that's the case. Seats are unreserved and it shouldn't be too much to ask, that adults behave like adults.
