Can anybody tell me why we're not playing this way from the start in matches?

We set up 5-3-2 and play like we've never kicked a ball before. Then after an hour or so, Collins changes it to 4-4-2 with McAtee at the point of the diamond and we actually look ok-ish.

Can't we cut out the hour + of dross, ditchwater nonsense and go straight to the attacking style we adopt when we "need" to?

Attack every game and go for the throat.

Did we go 4-4-2? Not in the game I watched, unless I missed summat.

Same. We've definitely gone 3-4-1-2 / 5-2-1-2 to good effect in the last two games but I need to go to Specsavers if there's been 4-4-2 with a diamond.

Definitely not played a diamond. Just put McAtee in the 10 role & put Kane alongside the other central midfielder

Not to be a pedant. But if McAtee is playing number 10 behind the strikers, and you have two central midfielders playing side by side, then Connell playing CDM. That is a diamond.

    McAtee
    Phillips Kane
    Connell

*watch the spacing be miles off when I post this!

To complicate things I saw a 5122 formation
