I think that’s harsh on Cole, he’s had to run around for scraps because we’ve had such a poor midfield three who’ve created nothing and whose passing and effort has been terrible. Our crossing has been poor in the main. Connell coming back will help him, but he’s not had a regular strike partner either. And I’m no Cole fan but he’s been our best hope this season and a different player to last.
Unless Cole's goals dry up completely, I wouldn't sell him for £500k in January, if we have no one better lined up. If £500k could clinch a deal for McAtee though, that could be good business. If the aim is to get promoted, we have to sign players whom we deem to be good enough for the Championship. I think McAtee is capable of performing well at that level. I hope we can both sign McAtee and keep Cole though, unless we get an offer for Cole that exceeds his potential value to us for the second half of the season.
Watching some performances this season it has appeared that some just don't seem motivated to press on from last season and are performing well below their capabilities. Where this is due to the loss of MDuff, Mads, Kitchin ets or dissolusion with the club ad/or manager only the players can tell you. But to be honest performances particularly at home have been uninspiring to say the least. The next couple of months will tell us all about the desire of the board move the club forward or settle for mid table mediocrity.
I know what you mean, but we did the same with Mowatt and Andersen. They were absolutely key players, mind, who gave 100% in every game.
We can just use the Coventry and Luton method, we can sign a very good centre back for x amount and pay it over what ever period. It now seems that we are no longer shopping at Aldi we are now shopping at the corner shop.
I doubt that many players agree to the first contract offer, pretty much guaranteed to squeeze a little extra out of any club. My personal opinion but I think Cole would have to be brain dead not to sign a new deal with us. He was slowly dropping into complete obscurity before we took a chance and signed him again. I think it would have been a matter of time before he popped up in non league football if we hadn't. He has played probably the best football of his career here and he really should have a long hard think of how greener the grass is on the other side. If he moves and the goals dry up again, he's finished in league football, wheras he could probably sign a new 2 year deal with us, can't see a longer deal being offered. Williams I do expect to sign after a negotiation if the CB situation is strengthened and he can start in his natural position in the squad. If we don't sort that, he'll end up signing for another L1 club I'd reckon. It's clear it's knocking his confidence and quality playing at CB.
Dallas has made 11 brief substitute appearances for Kilmarnock, a team that have averaged less than a goal a game, without scoring. Shaw has made 1 start and 12 substitute appearances, without scoring, for Motherwell, who are even worse than Kilmarnock. I'm not sure what the question is, but these two ain't the answer.
we have always been a selling club, players come to us to develop and get scouted from higher league teams and more money. They have to keep on showing their best if they want their move, dont matter who the manager is. our away performance in general as been better because of our away support we ( and I am one) have been brilliant away, at home the vast majority have always been negative and critical players pick up on this. wake up support the team at home we are all Barnsley
