A wins a win, 3 points an all that. But, in the same way that we shouldn't start planning life in L2 if we get nowt from upcoming games against Stevenage and Peterborough, we shouldn't get too excited about a win against the team joint bottom of the league. We're just not playing very well are we.
Seemingly the win today was down to the players completely ignoring Collins and deciding to take matters into their own hands in the second half. That wind still keeps coming
Ah, the obligatory ‘better fan’ thread when we’ve won a game… I’ve given praise where it was due on the matchday thread. The second half was good today and it was a performance I didn’t see coming under Collins. But let’s not get carried away. Swallows and summers and all that. I hope he does go on to prove us that have been calling for his head wrong - but he hasn’t yet.
Certainly no drop in the wind outdoors - it was verging on the scary was driving today. Mixture of surface water and low sun right in the eyes on the way down and very strong wind and more water on the way back. A welcome 3 points after a poor start, typically shaky defensive performance but actually some decent attacking stuff - think we mustered over 20 shots and it was only a bit more composure where it mattered that prevented us getting 5 or 6. Collins thus achieves something Duff never actually managed.
We were easily the better side at Blackpool until the McAtee injury. Not saying everything is brilliant, but we are genuinely in with a shout of promotion - if only our fans would back instead of pulling players down.
Looks like Watters could be injured now too. 2 games, 2 goals where our strikers were levelled after they'd scored, and nothing done. These were nasty challenges, it needs looking at.
Some weird posts on here. Whether we won or lost today - against one of the worst sides in the Division - we are a poor side in a dreadful League. Ditto next week.
Playing like we’ve been playing for 4 months it’s a wonder we’re not in the bottom four. The fact we’re 7th says more about the Quality of the League than it does our ‘brilliance’ imo.
Whilst I agree it's probably unnecessary, it beats the constant 'better fan threads' throughout the week when we haven't performed well. It gets a bit draining, when on a random Thursday morning, 4 days after a game, a thread pops up titled 'to all those defending this inept mamager' or something similar. As I say though, I don't agree with those type of posts either way, but they're much more numerous from a negative point of view, and it's not even close.
