Andy Murray during his hey day was a constant in the news so naturally came into the public view.
    Sullivan wasn’t.

I would imagine because she’s not an active sportsperson.

Undeserved in my opinion but can’t complain when it’s a public vote & I didn’t vote.

Ryan Giggs is still the worst winner though. Bizarre that he even made the shortlist given it was towards the end of his career when he was still decent but nowhere near his peak. I guess once he made the shortlist a load of Man Utd fans will have voted for him but he looks a terrible winner with what’s happened since.

Also had no idea it was happening until I saw it on twitter. I thought it was always on a Sunday night & seemingly well advertised. First one I’ve missed in 20+ years.

That's the sort of us against them flag waving attitude I'm talking about.

A lot of people really don’t like women winning stuff, do they?

    Very strange.

Imagine winning an award being female or disabled or non-white and having a sizeable amount of the population get all upset because it is a "box ticking exercise" etc etc

When I won the award for best male receptionist. I thought it was a massive moment for aspiring male receptionists in a female dominated environment. Now they're waving banners in the street with my name on them. It just makes me feel enormous pride that other young men want to follow in my footsteps. Giving a voice to all those male receptionists out there.

A voice that really isn't heard that often. I'm going to fight for parity for male receptionists all over the world and let them share their stories.

If England men’s team reached a World Cup final, with Pickford saving a pen in the final and winning the golden glove, the only way he wouldn’t win SPOTY is if Kane won the golden boot.

Not sure why there’s any surprise that Earps has won it to be honest. Michael Owen won it for scoring a goal in the second round when we still lost.

3 years on the trot that women have won it. Before that, the only other female winners in the last 30 years were 2006 (Zara TIndell), 2004 (Kelly Holmes) and 2002 (Paula Radcliffe). Only 14 women winners in 70 years.

This recent success can only be good for women in sport.

Can`t believe Lucy Charles-Barclay who won the ultra triathlon World Championship after a number of years of being runner-up wasn`t in the frame for SPOTY.

Unfortunately this is the hate filled world we live in.
In recent months I’ve had to pull myself away from Twitter in particular. It’s just depressing that people can be so nasty, and then backed up by equally nasty people.

The words “woke” and “snowflake” are prime indicators for me. People hide behind those words to permit their own sexism, misogyny, racism etc.

Personally I its the fact that its virtually going through the motions pre ordained thing these days that gets up a lot of peoples backs .
Personally if it was a sporting achievement thing I'd have given it to Katarina Johnson Thompson for what she has achieved and the dedication she has shown in in a lesser acknowledged sport!
Of course she hadn’t got the Mary Earps publicity machine behind her.
