2-2 entertaining draw between two good teams. Steve Evans will have them up there by the end of the season and we won’t be far off top six with a respectable January. Definitely need to take something from the game with tough games against Peterborough, Stevenage away and Bolton coming up.
Currently 1-1 at HT at Derby. If it stays this way at FT, a 2-0 win tomorrow would leapfrog us into 6th place (alphabetically).
I'm not sure on this. Depends on how Collins sets up the team. Need Lopata back in the 3. We will get bombarded by long balls. Williams back as wing back, his best position, although plays great against different styles of play. Charlton being a prime example where we needed more physicality. If we lose we will be starting to drift from the top 6. That would not be good, with an unpredictable January on it's heels. I hope we sneak a 2-1, but more likely we draw.
Ive the feeling they'll slap our @rse.. and show everyone what a proper promotion chasing side looks like.. 1-3 Boro..
Defence will be overwhelmed. Early lead from Stevenage, then a dour game full of timewasting. Referee won't help. Barnsley 0-2 Stevenage
I'm still not at all sold on Collins or his style of play, but Christ on a bike, some of the maudlin assessments of our chances I'm reading before a ball is even kicked make it sound like we're playing the 1978 Netherlands side tomorrow, not a team who were in the 4th tier last season, presumably with a budget several times smaller than our own.
Stevenage are above us on merit and the fact that these are the feelings of many shows where Collins has taken us.
I saw Stevenage play in September at Cheltenham, where they won 3-0. Sounds a good away performance, but it really wasn't. Cheltenham just ran out of steam and were already low on confidence, what little they had ebbing away in the second half when they just couldn't score. Stevenage are a typical Steve Evans side - well organised and make it hard for the opposition with a high tempo work-rate, but, in truth, there is a lack of any class throughout the side and I wouldn't expect them to stay where they are now come the end of the season. They played three at the back, which seems the norm for them. At Cheltenham they played wing-backs, three in midfield and two up front. No individual player caught the eye, but they worked very hard for each other and are a brawny and physical side. Their system seems to switch between 5-3-2 and 3-4-3. I am guessing that they will match us player for player with a 5-3-2 system with wing-backs to counter ours. They could be difficult to break down and I would think that they will aim just to keep it 0-0 as long as they can, with any break away chance their only hope of scoring in the first part of the game. If we get frustrated, that will play into their hands and we could get caught. The question is, therefore, how easily can we break them down and I think that the wing-backs will be key, so I hope that Cadden is back in. Cosgrove would be best choice up front with Cole, as he will give as good as he gets against the physical back three. If we stretch them wide, we have a better chance of playing through their midfield, but it looked quite solid in the game I saw. A tactically indifferent performance from us could see a 0-0, or 1-1, but I hope that Collins will have planned as thoroughly as undoubtedly Evans will. If we play with nous and take the lead, we really ought to go on to win, but I don't think it would be by a street - maybe 2-1 with a nervous last few minutes. I hope for the latter, but fear the former, which would put us on a trajectory to stay outside the play-off slots. Here's hoping.
2-0 Tarn….a bumper crowd with an excellent ticket offer…..Xmas grub and entertainment….lets be positive boys n girls
No real feeling for this one. I think we might nick it by the odd goal so going 2-1 but with a lot less confidence than my correct prediction last week
Yeah, there's a lot of tough games coming up, and it's imperative we start to perform against the sides who'll be challenging with us.
Be a hard game against a manager who knows the football league and won't come to play tippy tappy *****. 2-1 defeat
So much negativity! 3-0 to the reds with Cosgrove, Cole and Philips to get them. We’ll all be in a great mood for Christmas!
