He is right that they should have gone two up, our fans were booing and we scored a deflection. He hasn't actually said much wrong. I don't agree with the little Stevenage comment. Collins has spoken highly of them all week and wasn't the only one. Is there a website you can find out a managerial record by opponent? I'm pretty sure whoever he manages against us we've a promotion form record.
I wish we were massively overachieving.. They've probably got a fraction of our budget so credit where credits due from me.
He's delusional. I've not seen one person on here (or twitter actually) who have berated Stevenage. Very bitter.
Best team lost? He’s a clown if he genuinely believes that. They were terrible. They should have been two up though. And Luca’s tackle wasn’t the greatest.
To be fair, i have to apologise to Kane Hemmings. When he was here i thought he might just not quite be good enough. Hold my hands up - i was wrong. He's actually properly toss as fuuck.
Some of what Evans says is absolute crap, however some of the other things he says are correct. Our fans were getting frustrated and why is jordan Williams now a boo boy?!! We got fortunate with Kane's winning goal via a deflection but do any of us give a ****?! Nope! If I was a neutral I'd have probably said a draw would have been a fair result. Evans is right when he said they should have gone 0-2 ahead. Can't argue too much against Collins at the moment, he just needs to keep picking up results. Hopefully the performances will get better.
I think his comments are justifiable. Any Barnsley fan thinking we were the better team are just as deluded as they think he is.
Jordan Williams is getting booed because he is making a lot of mistakes and personally i think the captaincy is too much for him. And i think the booing in the first half did gee certain players up for the equaliser, as for collins i would like to know what his plan A is and what he thinks good football is. When i was playing which i know is many years ago i was told the best form of defense is attack, this fellah only wants to play backwards and sideways
Don't agree with targeting individual players, sorry. Jordan is a decent lad who's having a tough time but to boo him, give over. You're questioning Collins but we won the game didn't we?! Collins has 1 more point than MLH achieved after 21 games last season. Could we be playing better...Absolutely, I don't think anyone will disagree with that but so long as he keeps picking up results (1 defeat in 10) and we're heading for the top 6 then he deserves support. If we miss the top 6 this season then Collins position should come under serious scrutiny.
Then i am deluded. I thought they were absolutely awful and there was only ever going to be one winner this afternoon and they weren't in black. Rudimentary football played and managed by shitty journeymen. Don't get me wrong, i think we are crap but i'm happy to bet you any amount you like that we finish above that set of cloggers at the end of the season.
The only thing Evans gets wrong in that article is saying they were by far the better side. As far as I could see today there wasn’t a better side. There was a poor one and a very poor one (yes, I know that technically makes the poor one the better side, but you know what I mean!). Their one on one miss was poor, as it missed by a mile. Evans obviously forgot our one on one miss, that was at least on target. The officials were poor today (aren’t they always? - Ed.) and I’m surprised he didn’t complain about the ref blowing for Kane’s ‘head’ injury, just as they were about to take a shot, albeit from outside the box. The ref then didn’t instruct us to give them the ball back, which would have annoyed me, because I was annoyed when it happened to us recently. The most bizarre bit of refereeing, even more than the linesman raising his flag half an hour after Cosgrove scored, was how he could look at all the tussles between Cosgrove and their defenders and award two fouls against Cosgrove and none for. He was having his shirt pulled constantly, was being held, manhandled out of the way, you name it. In fact, Stevenage got away with a lot of pushing, sometimes full on two handed pushing. Cosgrove is the new Keiffer Moore, as he never won a foul either. But if that first 20 minutes of the second half was as good as Stevenage can play, God knows how they are 6th. You can’t help but admire Evans for continuing to overperform on tiny budgets, and for a long time now, but you can’t admire the style of their play.
I think I am with you on this one, my thoughts entirely . However I would put my house on us finishing above Stevenage, very poor outfit managed by a pub league manager. Would rather have anyone but him running our side, well he ain't going to be doing much running.
Just watched his interview on you tube. some fair comments but he really is deluded. his main gripe seemed to be against out 6 minute substitution. I didn't know what was happening either but he's saying that NC should have been sent off for that that and the ref didn't add enough injury time. jeez.
Stevenage and Evans have taken the big Val way of playing without having the quality of players we had. They chose first half to constantly bombard our 5ft 9 centre back with high balls and stick there 6ft 3 striker on him. Good basic tactic that could have been eliminated by playing our 5ft 9 centre back in his best position of wing back and play the competent defender Lopata in his natural position
