The only reason TBR aren't in the top league on merritt is that true to good old US sportsmanship there's no promotion or relegation.
That being one of the reasons Collins said he left Florida for South Yorkshire,he'd achieved all he could

Let's face it we're no idea how good he is,Collins's should have an angle on the stateside player's you would think. He's a full international not sure we will get one of them from a country any further up the world pecking order 6ft 5 so should be able to head the thing so thumbs up from me.

Has a lot more experience than Dike when he signed for us and he didn’t do bad.

I also noticed on his social media postings that, as well as the photograph of a sunny Oakwell, there was a photo of Sheffield City Hall. The press report did say there was interest from Championship clubs so you would have to think this is far from a done deal.

I suppose it's quite different than negotiating with non league players.

Strikes me we need someone now and who is up to speed with English third tier football. Not someone who is likely to undergo a culture shock. We do look vulnerable at the back and how Wigan didn't notch more than one goal is beyond me.

It’s unlikely we’ll sign Pines if other clubs are interested, which could be a blessing, we need someone experienced in playing EFL football, not someone who would need time to adapt.

Just out of interest, which leagues and divisions are we allowed to sign players from to ensure they are up to speed with EFL football?

He has been playing at a higher level - roughly equivalent to higher Championship/lower Premier League - for his entire career.

Base salary $200k according to Washington Post, which is about £150k. I would like to hope we're not going much, if any, higher than that in negotiation.

Barnsley FC will have done their home work on Pines they don't stick a pin in a chart and go for that.
If we've got first dibbs on an American International centre half who's valued at 2 million but available to sign for zero by coming to Europe its a no brainer .If other clubs miss out thats their undoing.
If the club can pull deals like this it'll show the recruitment at its best and before you claim why int anybody else come in for him (linked with a Championship club 23 months ago) the early bird catches the worm.
