    Superb footballer, a terrific ambassador for the game, the word LEGEND is bandied about far too much, but, with Der Kaiser it is a word that sits very well.

    He was class. I remember as a kid thinking he was miles better than anyone else.

    That leaves John Stones out on his own now as the greatest living defender.
