Inconsistent for me. We also had him at Exeter earlier in the season, where he received mixed reviews.
Needed to be more balanced on his award of cards and decisions. I actually thought he was ok for the first 20 minutes and then he failed to underwhelm
I thought he was really good. One of few refs we've seen where someone falling over doesn't automatically mean a free kick.
I have to disagree mate (again!), from a bias view I agree. But we've had a couple of lucky calls previous to today from the referees. Even though they're in our favour, that's still poor from a refereeing standpoint as a neutral - especially that penalty shout (forget who it was against, few week ago!). We moan, and rightly so, about crap refs giving us crap decisions, but we've certainly benefited over the last 3/4 games from poor refereeing against our opposition. I know we only remember the bad decisions against us. Today's referee I thought he was okay, let the game go on a few times, as said above would have liked a couple more yellows for their players, especially the one on McAtee - was like a rugby tackle! But overall I don't think he had any big calls to make and was fair really
I'm normally very lenient towards referees. As it's a difficult job. But I think the standard pre xmas. Was appalling over several games and it really started getting to me. I don't think I've noticed that much wrong recently. ( and yes we do tend to be less critical when we don't lose) and apart from the odd bad decision I think it has improved. I wasn't sure about the first booking today as he had a much better view of the incident. A similar looking one just after. appeared to warrant a booking for their player. But again he was close to the incident. Where's VAR when you want it.
The best thing you could say about today’s ref is that he wasn’t the worst we’ve had this season. I’ve given him a mean seven
I thought he was quite inconsistent. Didn't have loads to do so I'm probably a little mean giving him a 5. But booking McAtee for what was a superb tackle in the first half really irritated me.
Actually, you are right - I shouldn't have disagreed as much as I did. I do think in general they have improved for us over the last few games. Our persistent moaning may be paying off? But we've definitely benefited from bad calls in previous matches recently (and long may it continue?) . I'm like the fact they're seemingly letting more fouls go and keeping the flow of the game.
Best we’ve had this season. Let the game flow and didn’t give in to any play acting. Didn’t agree with him booking McAtee but otherwise I thought he was good.
Not the worst. Booked Mcatee for a tackle where he got the ball and then didn’t book one of theirs for a worse challenge. Also where did he find 6 minutes from at the end?
I assumed McAtee’s card was for dissent because it was a good tackle and was never a foul. A bit inconsistent with bookings but he tried to let the game flow. We’ve had far worse and it is a very low bar, therefore it’s a 6 from me
They say 30 seconds for everything. Before the board came up the second half had.... 7 subs 2 goals 2 yellow cards. There is five and a half minutes rounded up (as they do) to six minutes. You could argue that goals take longer than half a minute to get going again you usually get a bit for time wasting.
Who's they? the FA? I didn't know they added 30 seconds for a yellow. Free kicks can be taken within 10 seconds easily.
