I once got the whole primary school I taught at to enter assembly to Timerider. When it was our turn to do the assembly we got to choose the entrance music.

I remember us using fanfare for the common man. But so did/do other clubs. So timerider for me is more than ok. Although I'm rarely in my seat when it's played.

'Never surrender' by Barnsley band Saxon anyone. :)

If we're sticking with electronic music Blue Monday surely has to be first choice?

I don't think anything can beat "Local Hero" that's played at Newcastle.
Before clubs were mandated to play the official PL anthem, and Local Hero was played in full, it was spine tingling even as an away fan. Quite a long build up to the main part, I think it sounds stunning.

Does this count? Pete Waterman and Michaela Strachan came out to Timerider on the Hitman and Her late night music show back in the 80s. Crap programme but Miss Strachan made the late nights worth it :D:D:D:D

Played at Wolverhampton, Villa and Scunny too. Probably others.

For the record, I hate Cocoon (the actual name). But every time the club tries to get rid, there’s aggro.

Love it and hope we never get rid. Speaking as a definitely not old or boring fart with a passion for music.

    It's definitely 'our naff'.

Do they still play "the boys are back in town" after a win ?

There is, Oakwell full of em I'm one myself... I except your point about Newcastle and Zcars at Everton
I'm not trying to insult anyone here. and if there is I apologise.. But it doesn't enhance the atmosphere, quite the reverse. Folk do their little clapping thing as the players come out, then sit on their hand quite for the next 90mins.. Thinking their part is done.. hence thee woeful Oakwell atmosphere

Newcastle, Everton (and Watford who also use z cars though much less famously than Everton), and Chelsea all have long standing walk out music which isn’t particularly great. But it identifies them.

Cocoon (Timerider was the act, not the name of the song) isn’t an all time classic. But it’s ours.

You won’t get a majority for any other tune. People like a wide variety of things.

You put out a list of ten to a fan vote; if Cocoon was one of them it would win by a landslide - at least half the votes with the other half spread.

As whitey has said they’ve tried different stuff in the past. People go mad.

I remember them switching to Heroes by Bowie for a while; it’s a much better song of course - but it just wasn’t right.

Said it before and I will every time this comes up. It’s sh.ite. But it’s our sh.ite.

I'm one too but there's plenty around me who aren't and clap along at the start
Thing is I see it differently- it's ours we associate with it now and I think people do respond to it. I'm a bit disappointed we don't have the Rocky tune before it anymore !Don't think for one minute atmosphere at Oakwell is down to us playing this

Every time I hear Timerider I think of Barnsley Football Club and the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
