    Presume that strip of land was in the shade of the stand and so would have taken longer to defrost?

    Ref seems to have given it every chance - maybe he could have gone at 11, but then he couldn't win I don't think.

    Surprised at Collins' reaction (and you know how much I'm a supporter of his) - but it is what it is.

    If he says it’s unplayable I have no issue with that. I’m pretty sure the Ground staff would have known.
    My issue is that no consideration was given to traveling fans.
    No undersoil heating = early decision needed.

    I personally think if there's any chance the game could be played any and all effort should be made to play it.

    Fans knew since yesterday that there was a chance it would be off. Anybody that went set off knowing there was a chance the game would be postponed.
    They took that risk themselves. It's not a life or death situation, if they didn't want the chance of travelling for no reason nobody forced them to.

    No, but that’s 1400 people each investing an estimate of £80 each in ticket and travel and travel time of around 6 hours minimum.
    That’s a huge amount of time, money and inconvenience that could have been avoided.
    That’s why i say these decisions should be made the day before. Stevenage not in a position to have undersoil heating have also probably lost more money via the late cancellation than had it been called off early. (Staffing, catering, etc)

    So you saying that fans knew there was a chance of it being off so their fault for setting off?.....ffs they will have had a ticket you numpty.....of course they going to set off, I take it you dint go so really not best to comment about fans that gave up their day for nothing gained but expense.....

    My point is, if the game was called off yesterday vs a fan deciding yesterday to not risk it the only difference is the ticket not being refunded if the game does end up being played. Everything else money-wise is identical.

    Yes, but if like us you amended your plans to enable you to recoup some of the lost (sunk) cost dependent on the outcome of the 11am inspection I think you have every right to be totally and utterly ****** off that it was then called off at 1pm. Last night I re-planned and put in a break of journey at Peterborough not setting off again until 11.30 and the pillock should have called it at 11pm - if there were problems then it was always not going to be right less than two hours later. Call it at the time you've publicised you're calling it - then we wouldn't have had to pay and go all the way to Peterborough.

    The ref's a complete two-hat imho. It should have been called at 11. End of.

    Typical lawyer. Permafrost, my backside - you get permafrost in the High Alps not a playing field in East Anglia.

    That's just not true though is it? Even here there were 2 areas that were bad and 1 resolved itself the other didn't. I just think the number 1 priority should be trying to get the game played if there's any chance of it happening.

    You talk like you've never been inconvenienced by a game called off late and wasted a whole day plus loads of money. In fact I doubt if you've ever been to an away game at all

    Have you ever tried to explain to a car full of kids or a bus load of fans that we’re not setting off because there is some doubt that the game might not happen?

    If you have bought a ticket for the game you are already invested. You are entirely in the hands of other people. You don’t just decide “well we have tickets, but we won’t set off”.

    It’s **** & there’s no easy answers. It’s just football in the winter in this country.

    I actually think it’s done us a favour. We’ll hopefully have McCart & Pines available for the rearranged game but I still feel for the fans.

    I deliberately don’t tend to do away games in December - January because this can happen & I’m a bit of a wuss who likes the warmth but I know a lot of fans do the majority of the away games & that many were wanting to tick Stevenage off their list of grounds to visit.

    Fingers crossed we use the anger from the late postponement as fuel to blow them away in the rearranged game.
