Trouble with that is Russell would still be on the field and I think it’s safe to assume he had his one good game for the season on Tuesday. O’Keeffe and Shepherd shouldn’t be on the field though. I’ll give you that. Corey O’Keeffe is a disgraceful footballer, Jack Shepherd isn’t professional standard I’m afraid. Not yet anyway. Phillips has been shoehorned onto the left as Kane is missing though hasn’t had a good season by any standard. I’ll give Collins a bit of a bye given what he has available, but only a little bit. He’s picked the team. He’s let it continue all half. He’s deemed it acceptable to have the midfield three that we have without attempting anything to alter things. We had one ‘shot’ in a half of football at home to a team in the bottom half of league one. It came after 45 minutes and was a Lily-livered flick on header that was high and wide. Their keeper might as well have gone to the mount for a swift few. Their kit man has one less kit to wash.
Luckiest manager ever. Play lopata. He's probably ***** but not much worse than williams at cb or certainly non worse than shepherd
For who? Hes never been great defensively but in acres of space further forward but all our 'play' down the right. Shocking performance mate.
To a man Exeter are faster than the Barnsley players, meaning they can block all runs, intercept all passes and run straight through the defence. A similarity of the two teams is they can both pass to white shirts. I'd say there is only MDG having a decent game. I'm baffled as to Aitchison's celebration in front of the Ponty. If ever there was a player that the fans warmed to it was him. There have been players with far more talent frozen out. He had the fans behind him despite being a bit rubbish. As far as I'm aware, the club did him a favour, allowing him to leave and move across the border for personal reasons (even though he was soon back playing in England). So why the grandstanding in front of the Barnsley fans? What a ****.
Collins and the players need to show some balls in the second half and push much further forward. That was far too easy for Exeter all over the pitch.
2nd best all over the field. Forwards makimg no impact on their defence. Nowhere near getting the optimistic punts from defence. Midfield? What midfield. Defence being overrun. Changes were needed way before half time. However, difficult to see where we can improve things other than bringing Connell on.
When Kane doesn’t play we fall to pieces. We need cover for when he can’t play and non of the players we have are good enough. Not bad management, just a lack of quality cover.
Needs to be. Connell for Russell Lopata for Shep (cruel to keep Shep on). Then see how it goes for 15 before further changes Pointless slagging Watters and Cole off til they get something to work with
Agreed @budmustang, there was confusion about why he was signed but I don't recall anyone getting on his back during his spell here
The only worst half I've seen vs Exeter was in 1978 under Iley, when we gave up a 3-0 lead to lose 4-3. Watters is not a footballer.. Why he was picked today, the mind frankly boggles. McAtee is not a midfielder, either. Nobody else looks like one TBH, other than Mael, or Roberts, or it would have been 4-0. Collins should have changed it after 20 minutes, but is sat on his hands. 3 points lost now. Hurts Aitchison scored the opener. Very, very poor.
