I’m not a fan of Russell, he plays like his pre match meal is space cake, but every now and again he’ll look decent. Both he and Shepherd had good games at Oxford, as did Okeefe. Fact is we have several players who are very inconsistent, but they are further up the order than those that are consistently poor, injury prone or deemed just not ready for regular first team games. Where do you stop at ‘Shipping out’? We’re already wafer thin, as losing both Kane and Connell showed on Saturday.
Is there any point in rushing it though if he's not ready? We did that with De Gevigney and ended up bringing him off after half hour, having given away a penalty and been booked.
He’s got to get used to British football before being stuck in at one of the league leaders in my opinion. Think back to Maels debut. Whilst pines looks a great prospect we need someone to plug and play not learn on the job. Really surprised at how little recruitment we have done this month.
Thing is Pines has been a USMT player with plenty of experience.Surely it's purely fitness, example is if fit and selected would America play him against Bolivia but not against Argentina,of course not. This is league one for God's sake and recently lots of posters have said the standard this year is poor.
Not a big fan of Russell, but there’s maybe a player in there. Shepherd is a 22 - soon to be 23 - year old local lad who was playing 8th tier football last year. He had a great few games at the start of the season, recently been maybe shown it’s quite a big step up for him. We shouldn’t ship him out. When you’re around better players, you learn more. Maybe he could benefit from a loan soon but he’s a good prospect imo. Especially with him fitting the business model perfectly. Were you asking for Mads to be shipped out when he was getting to grips with the demand of the game?
Sheperd has potential, but needs to play regularly in a lower league, so a loan move would be wise imo. And no I was asking for Stendal to adapt his tactics as we were getting hammered week in week out.
Russel was instrumental in HTFC achieving playoffs not long back. He is a good player. However he hasn't convinced most BFC fans. That as been the case for years watching the reds. He hasn't had the best start to his time here ,I do beleive he is a decent player with the right players around him.
The ‘right players’ that are required around him though, are ones who will do all the running, all the tracking of opponents and all the defending. He has ability, his close ball control is excellent for example, but he is being carried through most games by the work of other people. With no Kane or Connell on Saturday he reverted to looking a complete passenger, approaching a liability. He isn’t necessarily a completely terrible player, but he has no place in our current team.
Isn't Pete O'Rourke the grim reaper? Usually when he's reporting it, that's when it all goes quiet and we never hear about said player again? He was linking us with a different centre half last week iirc.
I think he's generally more reliable than most on X, in that he'll do some work to verify what he's putting out. Some links might lead to nothing but when it's something as advanced as a medical, you'd imagine it's happening. Could still fall through, but it's gone well beyond his name appearing in a list somewhere.
