Save your money. If she fails she can always resit it at college. Things are way more lenient these days. That way she'll get the tutoring as part of her college course. Lots of my colleagues at Whitewood did that.

My girlfriend's twins go to college at Barnsley in September on open day they were told if they fail maths and English the college will build it into the timetable over the 2 years to give them chance to resit and pass

You can’t beat a personal tutor but don’t dismiss what is on YouTube for GCSE maths. Plenty of good channels to show the techniques needed to get through it.

I think the agent of Celebrity Monkey does outside tutoring. Do you want me to ask?

My daughter is at Barnsley college and the maths tutor is literally useless. Not one of his students passed the resit and he spends more time in the lesson discussing jazz music than trying to educate the class.

If you can afford to get your kid the help do it. We're looking for a tutor.

We’ve been told by a teacher at a well known school that thinking you can resist them at college is a total nightmare!!

Resisting at college is ok if you get it done in the first term and pass in the November resit. Work load is low in first terms of college in comparison so it allows time for resit

I tutor maths and physics GCSE but live on Isle of Man. Just looked on the national First Tutors website where students are introduced to me and there are 3 in the Barnsley area offering their assistance through "First Tutors". You can contact via email, a tutor for free to make arrangements and then a small introduction fee to obtain their contact details if you think they are suitable. It might be worth a try.

Schools usually run extra sessions heading towards exams, plenty of past papers and mark schemes are online if you can't find someone.

Helen makes a good point about attending the lessons most schools run just before the actual exam.
One of my children who did very little (sod all) work in her fifth year but went to every extra lesson just before the exams did very well.
It may be worth getting an honest appraisal from the teacher regarding the need for extra tuition.
Daughter may considering prioritising subjects so she focuses on the 'important ones' and doesn't bother with the others
Also there is I think an appeals procedure after the results where any difficulties at the time of the exam such as illness will be taken into account if there's an appeal..
