Doesn't matter now but allegedly we lost out on the young lad from Leeds (Pearce) who went to Wigan. Thus ending up with Oduor because Tonge leaked information to the wrong person at the golf course.

Wouldn’t say it was baseless, just because it’s from Nixon. I think different journos wait till different stages before reporting something, e.g.

Nixon - will report if an enquiry is made
Giddings - if a bid is made
    O’Kane - ink already dry

On paper we have good strikers, but what we need at the moment is effective strikers. Maybe the signing of Ennis would put a rocket up Watters and Cosgrove. Maybe he will be a great counterfoil for Cole and or McAtee.

    On the golf course……..

Wrong person: You have a problem and I know how to solve it

    Tonge: Is it odour?

Wrong person: More or less. Believe me, buy, and everything will smell sweet all summer long.

Watters on a 4 year contract has no need for a rocket. Hes on a well paid slow boat to nowhere. Whoever signed that one off needs a rocket, but I think he already got one.

This would really surprise me unless a) Devante Cole is leaving; b) one, or both of Watters and Marsh are going out on loan. I notice that Oldham have signed yet another veteran striker in Joe Garner. Does that mean that Norwood's coming home, if only on loan until the summer? All good banter points.

It’s not in any player’s interest at league one level to coast along and not earn themselves a championship contract. Appreciate if he’s on 4k a week it’s better than my job, but he only needs to apply himself for a few months to get himself a move to the championship on triple the wages. I don’t accept that players at league one level have the desire to play in a higher division or earn more money.

If you've watched him and seen anything vaguely resembling desire then you're far more insightful than I.

3 year deal. The 4th year is an option in the clubs favour.

I asked this question other day, but against Exeter he closed the keeper down every time then dropped back. He had no service what so ever and about 3 touches of the ball, same as Cole. What more could he have done when we play so poorly?

For what it's worth, I can understand with his previous goal record and his okay-ish loan spell here why the club took a punt, but he has been disappointing, there's no doubt about that. Lack of effort just seems an easy way to berate him though, as with most players who havent been good enough.

Given that we had him last season and still gave him 3 years, I'd predict we'll probably exercise the 1yr option. Unfortunately.

Okay-ish loan spell? He was dire last season, and has shown consistency this season!!

He's quick enough and runs about a lot but it seems like he's no interest in getting a proper press out of it - he let's the defender out every time when he's on them, as though he's either scared of getting injured or just going through the motions. He never slides in to block anything. He's just going through the motions.

I defy anyone to say that so far he's been an asset when he's been on the pitch.

You might as well have sent on a vaguely disinterested bloodhound.

Over to you now Watters. Do summat . I think you can.

He clearly wasn't dire to a lot of fans, because they're disagreeing with you. He was nowhere near dire last year. Frimpong, Shea, Mido and the ilk were actually dire.

I agree. Contrast Watters' idea of closing down with that of McAtee. McAtee goes full blast at the keeper or defender, as though he thinks he's a good chance of winning the ball, whereas, with Watters, it just seems like a token gesture.
