He was on the full episode. About halfway through he was asked about the Rimmo situation if anyone is interested.

Short version is he blamed his old agency for leaking the photo.

 

It was him that signed the contract on that day. ******.

 

I've listened to about three quarters of it, and he speaks very highly of his time at Barnsley.

He does blame his old agency for the leak, and also says that he'd agreed with Wednesday that his signing wouldn't be announced until the day after the funeral. Wednesday respected his wishes, but someone at his agency got carried away, and sent a picture to someone else, who subsequently leaked it. He fell out with the agency as a result.

 

So?

 

Enjoyed listening to him. I never understood the vitriol he got from some people on here. We had him for over two years and he was a genuine goal scorer and a damn good footballer. I only have good memories of him and wish him well in his new venture outside of football.

 

I think he genuinely regretted the way it happened and he was also fully aware of the way that good team was broken up.

Come on, surely you understand that bud? Not only going to our biggest rivals, but that picture of him circling when it did in regards to Rimmo really pissed people off, rightly so. I don't really care where a player leaves for as long as we get the right deal, but that picture being leaked really left a sour taste in my mouth

 

Nowt to do with Rimmo for me, l thought he was a pillerk at Oakwell, until the pig was thrown at him...

 

Another player that said the club had no intention of keeping the squad together. That's wy he went. The squad wanted a crack at promotion but we chose a fire sale

 

Seems a tad convenient that some nameless entity is now taking the blame. Can’t recall him coming out and apologising about it at the time like any reasonable person would given the same circumstances.

 

Sure had it nothing to do with him being on 20k a week

 

So now we've learned that the photo wasn't in fact a calculated insult towards the recently deceased we're saying that signing a bit of paper to secure your family financially for life is the mark of a ****?

Football supporters are ridiculous.

 

He regretted it so much he was still acting the tw@ a few weeks later at Oakwell. Snarling, arrogant weasel behaviour that day.

 

Wish we had him now as the player he was though

 

He’s a lad from the West Midlands who gave us some great memories from the promotion season.

Has no affiliation to Barnsley or Wednesday but signed for life changing money.

Pretty sure he didn’t deliberately disrespect Rimmo but it happened.

After that he became the villain of the piece and got plenty of vitriol and played up to it.

Some people will always dislike him, others will move on and remember the good times, that’s football.

 

I just don’t get the hate towards him regarding NR

Yes I disliked him signing for Wednesday like I would any other Barnsley player but being on the funeral date is not a reason for the hate .

He wasn’t NR son he was a lad from midlands who probably couldn’t give two fuks about the rivalry with Barnsley and Wednesday and I don’t blame him one bit .

 

Regarding his behaviour at oakwell when he was at Wednesday , he was just reacting to the amount of abuse he got . Problem with most football fans they can give it out but don’t like it back

 

seems an age ago since left, if a fringe player left the same day then nothing would be said
the fact it was for a club who we detest was the only factor with some fans, if he'd gone to newcastle or brighton we'd have been over the moon for him
