Is that Charlton 21 points worse off than us charlton that spent heavy in the summer on all these so called quality signings and Oxford yeah Oxford who we beat other week and below us. Bolton they've far bigger pockets and pulling power.
All season long the criticism is about the defense, with Styles being booted from pillar to post. Sorted now. Chill. Or, implode.
Perhaps Charlton we're willing to spend this year, knowing it'd take a season of transition and they'd be there or there abouts next year? I don't know their plan, but I know they're active in the market. We're not. We're reactive.
The current owners have ploughed over £10m into the Club to keep it running, while remaining competitive in the top 6. I'm not saying they're perfect and I'm sure we would all love to see a bigger playing budget, but to say they aren't spending money is simply wrong.
People get themselves in such a state it's like spoilt kids at Xmas this constant yearn for new players, when in reality 19 teams below us are looking up thinking I'd love Cole, kane, connell , Phillips, Roberts Mcatee etc in my squad. It really I'd toy's out of the pram stuff, click the fingers and instantly walks in household name to gaurantee promotion scoring 20 goals just ready and waiting for us with no interest from any other club
But surely we know that cash is coming in so we just do same to another club?? Disappointing window but I obviously don't expect us to spend 10m
I know spending money doesn't gaurantee success at this level, there onto manager number 3 this season and wasted bags of cash, it all has to be paid for somewhere you know its not free money
Tell me any walk of life where someone buying a business, of any kind, doesn't have to put some money in to make it work? These lot came in as part of a consortium led by absolute chancers in Lee and Conway. Likely sold some dream about minimal outlay and maximum return due to the model we employ of polishing turds. It was a lie. Money needs pumping in on the off chance it pays off. That's football in 2024 unfortunately. If they can't or won't put the required money in then what's the point? If it can be run sustainably with no cash injections then people would be queuing around the bottom of Grove Street to buy us, and any other club for that matter.
Summer recruitment was atrocious really, how many of our non league lads have we shipped out now? Lessons learnt or not?....... Doubtful seen as we were doing the exact same in the championship
And what happens when this so called money is pumped in if it fails? We can only spend 60% of our turnover on wages due to L1 salary cap management protocal, wake up we're lucky to be in business at present. Like it or not the landscape of the game has changed massively its not 1997 anymore there are bigger clubs than us stuck in this league, we can't spend and gamble money we don't have
I love my club. I now live far away. My kids were all born in Wales. All are Reds, Welsh Reds, but Reds. My Grandkids are Reds, my Reds. It all goes on. May it never be compromised.
Mate, i am so sorry. This puts our poor transfer window into some proper perspective. Sincere condolences.
