    Given that Norwood and Devante are meant to be good mates, you’d have thought he would have just asked Cole to drop it off for him. Unless Khaled took it with him to America. In which case Pines might fetch it back next time he’s been home.

    Good lord mate. If we had had to defend summat like that I'd av packed in early doors. It's a comment based on etiquette. Not sexist or abuse as 1 or 2 want to make out
    Not for example if I said in front of everyone. "Yer an ugly bugger" .

    Except by the sounds of it Jean allegedly told people about the confidential complaint, moaned that she'd done nowt wrong (rendering the apology absolutely meaningless) and then made further discriminatory remarks. So of course the initial apology wasn't the end of it and it hadn't been dealt with.

    And in her eyes she may have still think she'd done nowt wrong. As I'm sure most of have done in a similar situation. To apologise and to defuse the situation.

    Too much being read into it.
    Eg
    "By eck you've put on weight since I last saw you." May be offensive in some eyes. And provoke a response.
    "I apologise for the remark, just a little concerned" may be the reply"

    Fact. The person has put on weight. And was not intended to be offensive.
    And let's be honest. The jean one was not a remark to offend.

    But as I've said b4. A remark about etiquette. Dress sense in the workplace.
    None of us know the full story. Yet some are banging on as if they do.
    As you say "By the sounds of it" is not word verbatim.

    We don't know what was said regarding the clothing exactly, but I'd be offended if my boss accused me of flirting with co-workers as a married man.

    And regardless of what was said it should have been kept confidential and no further remarks should have been made.

    Trouble with stuff like this is that it detracts from what happens on the pitch going forward. When things are in the public domain and people are putting their twopenceworth in on social media the players can get dragged in (as has seemingly happened). If players are unsettled and not 100% focused behind the scenes the fine margins of what happens on the pitch can be affected. Whatever the rights and wrongs here while ever there's speculation, gossip, finger-pointing and legal argument it's not good for the football side. Shame really as BFC is a football club.

    Agreed. Like the scenario you're building where there's been no wrongdoing despite someone allegedly discussing a confidential HR matter with other employees and carrying on disparaging an employee after a complaints procedure where an apology was offered.

    Yep, can't believe the hypocrisy in saying sounds like it has been blown out of proportion etc etc and criticising people for being concerned when they are basing their opposing view on nothing of substance themselves.

    Difference is. I choose to have the allegations proven and not subject of a written piece of journalism based on hearsay. .Which can damage reputations.
    My assessments are generally on what actually can happen in the real world. (Having had to deal with such like instances on occasion. And not everything is black and white in accusations. In fact till you've heard all the parties involved it may turn out quite differently.) Ask yourself why. It's quite easy to stir up and or create non events. By someone who we dont have a clue is btw. with a beef. It doesnt appear Ellie did.
    I'll ask you. Is Jean guilty. I dont have the foggiest. Tbh. But what I wont do is besmirch either party till they have chance to reply. It's like a flaming kangaroo court on here.

    Defending an ex colleague who seems to have been at least in part treated very badly. Good on Barry for speaking up. Always hard to do so while you are still employed by an employer you perceive to have acted improperly.

    Bullying in the workplace. Basic definition is that if you perceive yourself to be bullied then there is a case to answer. I don’t think there is a dispute that an apology was offered so offence was caused.

    I work in a construction company If the remarks attributed to Jean are correct then there would be an investigation. We don’t thankfully live in a world where sexism is acceptable.

    But let’s take for example the issue of B.O.
    Someone has terrible BO and someone in the office takes them quietly to one side and says, honestly mate, you need to do something about your personal hygiene as it’s affecting others in the office.
    The person with BO is outraged and complains to the manager of the person who had a quiet word with them.
    The person who spoke to them is investigated and it is found that despite not making a big deal about it in the office, there is a possibility that they could have still been more tactful or said what was needed in a different way.
    They apologise for making the person with BO upset.

    It doesn’t mean that the person didn’t have BO or shouldn’t have been told to make changes to their personal hygiene.
    The apology doesn’t mean there wasn’t a case to answer for in this analogy, for either person.
    Replace BO with wearing clothes which someone felt didn’t meet the appropriate “business” dress code or behaving in a “flirtatious” manner and the same argument can apply.
