I started bringing my father-in-law to matches a couple of seasons ago, and we always joke that we'll have to get him a season ticket because we thought he'd never seen us lose. It turns out, we lost the first game he saw (2-0 vs Hull in 2021), but since then, he's seen us win 9 and draw 1. Even the draw was against Fulham. Does anyone have a friend or family member they take to games who seems to be a good luck charm?
When I started going with my dad in the 70s under Jim Iley in my first 5 games we didn’t score a single goal. It’s got better since then though only slightly
I think my record at games is something like 2 draws and 8 defeats in the last 10 games I've been at Oakwell. It got to the stage where if I even think of going to a game I convince myself that we will lose so I'm better not going...
I've got the exact opposite in my family. Daughter, (who has little interest in football, but likes to go to the occasional game) hasn't seen them win - EVER. This includes 3 or 4 games in the Promotion to PL season and 3 in the PL season. One of which was the 0.6 defeat at West Ham. Her last game was the 0.3 defeat by Bolton at Oakwell last season. She keeps asking to go to another game sometime, but I keep thinking of a load of excuses to try and get her not to come!
Best record for me while watching The Reds was Fanfare for the Common man by ELP which used to be played when the teams came out. Hope this helps.
