Such a shame for the lad. He seemed a nice guy so another possible long term layoff is the ladt thing he needed.

Albion can confirm Daryl Dike will be out until the end of 2024 after suffering an Achilles tendon injury at Ipswich Town on Saturday.

A rupture of the USA international’s left Achilles will require surgery, followed by a period of rehabilitation.

The club will provide Daryl with all the care and support he needs to return to full fitness later this year

I do feel sorry for Daryl but wow when you consider the amount of money they've paid for him and his lack of game time then I wouldn't be surprised if West Brom cut their losses and pay him up, it's been a disaster for them.

With insurance, they probably won't have lost that much. The insurance company will have though,

Some of their comments are insanely harsh. You only have to see his reaction on the buggy. He’s absolutely devastated.

I don't remember any injury issues with him, that kept him out of matches. Apart from the few knocks you'd expect every player to get.
If hes now out for maybe the rest of this year, 10 months or more, then that could be the end for him.

Absolutely soul destroying for him. Seeing him come off in tears was awful. Hope he can find a way back.

After the amazing half-season he had with us, I was excited at the prospect of him playing against England in the '22 World cup.

It really could be touch and go for him as that would mean, by the time he's back, that he would by then have been fit for 1 month in nearly 2 years. That's a tough old haul for any player. And would he ever be the same player after 2 years out?

If West Brom stand by him on this latest recovery then I would have a lot of respect for them for that.

I was at Ipswich at the game with some people we met at Wembley. 4 ex players on the field. Mowatt was the pick of the bunch. Outstanding cover at the back of midfield.

I think he will be OK if he goes to another team. We've seen it loads over the years where for some reason a player is injury prone at one club, but fine elsewhere. Could be the training methods, playing surface, training ground or any other reason.

I always remember us signing MC Nulty who barely played half the games in a season before joining us and then did nearly 50 games in one season at Barnsley.
