It astounds me the Tories have not a law to make food banks illegal.

One of biggest benefit scroungers I know has a fella living with her undeclared and not an eyelid has been batted.

You'd have thought the Tories would have picked up on that by now.

There's always 'scroungers' and always will be. If you fall into the trap though of thinking that that means everyone on benefits is scrounging you've fallen for the Tory/Daily Mail line. There are millions of people dependent on benefits and struggling. There are a few 'scroungers'.

Benefits should be a last resort a sort of safety net for people. Not for people to be happy to just sit there and live off full time.Apart from people unable to work obviously.

Vile animals. JRM probably drafted the proposal, while he was tucking into foie gras amuse-bouche.

How about stopping their tax funded buffets in the HoP? Or charging bedroom tax for Buckingham Palace? They're essentially living off benefits.

It actually amuses me how many of these faux logical, "well technically" Royalists go all cognitively dissonant when i say that.

From a Tory stand point it's more likely to be a successful thing in life.

Cos it's something that the government don't have to pay for and is entirely charitable.

I'm not sure of the percentage, but I understand large numbers of people IN WORK rely on benefits. Of course, the plus side of this is that the owners of the Amazon's et al of this world can pay low wages and avoid taxes as because of this, they've become too big to fail AND can wisely use their tax payer subsidised profits to buy a spaceship or two.

I know some people on benefits who live on estates and have never worked in their lives. But we are supposed to bow and curtsy to them aren’t we…

40 % of benefits goes to in work claimants. So Jeff can pay his peasants peanuts. 40% to those who cannot work either due to age or disability. Housing Benefit accounts for a massive amount of the benefit ‘bill’ straight to the buy to let landlords as we fail to build social housing where the govt could pay itself to house people.
