Collins arranged a loan deal for him last month, James Cryne vetoed it as there ‘wasn’t enough data’ on him, so we signed Conor Grant instead. Collins ended up looking daft as Gary O’Neil had agreed to release him to come to us. He ended up going to QPR. The only data I need to see is that one player is at a Prem club, made 6 appearances last season in the top division vs the other couldn’t get in a League Two side this season. Data has a place in the game, absolutely, but it can’t be the ONLY approach surely?!
Why does Collins look daft? Must admit I don’t know about the player in question. We’ll have to see how he does at QPR I guess.
Because he’s asked Wolves if we could loan him, Gary O’Neil approved it, only for BFC to pull out due to a lack of data.
If this is true, which I suspect is, & wouldn’t be surprised, then there’s only one way this is going to end long term, in tears! It’s an absolutely barmy strategy, as we could identify a player way below national league based on stats & sign him even though he’s never played higher than that level, over a player who plays for a club at a higher level but has no stats yet because he’s waiting to gain some experience. It won’t take long for Collins to take up an opportunity elsewhere if we’re treating him like that. If we don’t get promoted he’ll be off just like Duff & it’s back to square one but with even less money.
The issue is our manager (head coach or whatever he's supposed to be referenced as) identified a player, and the "data" (computer) said no
But as I understand it Hodge hadn't played much? There's plenty of Premier loans that end up being rubbish too Having said that, I'd personally see nothing wrong in letting Collins have one pick!
I’d assume Pines was identified by Collins. If that is the case then it’s not like it’s a blanket “no” every time Collins suggests someone. I can’t see the issue here, unless of course this player goes on to become a top championship player for QPR.
I've no data on my neighbours car but it is patently obvious to anyone it's better in every respect than my little Suzuki
Gotta be honest and say I find it hard to believe there was a lack of data on the lad. Not saying the data didn’t throw something up that vetoed it but the lad played for Man City is Captain of the U21 Irish team, there will be loads of data on him. Don’t believe for a minute Cryne has final say either.
