Why, just why? I've commented on this before and I have to repeat it having watched the whole iFollow coverage yesterday and the Recap ten minute segment today. The half wit behind their goal was inanely thump thump thumping on it throughout. He was even doing it as we bore down on that end and scored our winning goal. Of course it stopped as Kane slotted the ball in. I can't believe that in a crowd of 3,000 home supporters it does any good at all. It's just annoying so I don't get why these people are allowed to do it. I bet most of their own fans don't like it either. It would give me a headache having to listen to that all through a game and I am so glad we don't have one at Oakwell. If anybody is thinking of bringing one in, think again. If anyone at the club gets a request for a drum please turn it down!!
Exactly the same at Shrewsbury if I sat anywhere near someone with a drum they would end up wearing it.
If it was me he'd end up eating it. . The club muted the idea at a fans meeting a while ago. Think Granty got mentioned to drum up support in the ponty. (Forgive the pun ). It got a majority thumbs down.
I was at a Colombian Premier League game last night. About 20,000 fans in. The die hards in the home end, about 5000 of them had drums and they literally never stopped singing for the full 90 minutes. It's a different mindset here though and it just doesn't seem to work back home.
I suppose if the ground is noisy anyway the drums wouldn’t be an issue. When I used to watch Gladbach regularly there was a little guy there who actually had a little seat on top of the fence behind the goal and his manic drumming was effective. But in a very small and mostly quiet crowd it’s just annoying.
I suppose if they're carrying drums around they haven't got any free hands to take large fireworks, flares and guns to the games...
