Donovan Pines started like the archetypal “rabbit caught in the headlights”. It was as if he was overwhelmed by the atmosphere, not to mention the expectation on him. But boy, did he come good! He grew into the game, played some excellent long passes and got in two fantastic headers one after the other midway through the second half. Once he gets to know his team mates better he will be one superb player.

I seem to remember that Ethan Pinnock started the same way. I wonder what happened to him?

In a way I've got to give credit to teams like Derby and Bolton, because these are always massive games against them. And it makes it all the more brilliant if/when we do beat them. :)
And Mr Phillips lol, how long have our fans been saying he's a mere shadow of the player he was last season. Ok maybe they were fair comments then, but recently he's been looking even better than that, and he's coming up with the crucial goals as well.

I know people are a bit hot and cold with kane but today he showed how good he is. Best player on the pitch by some distance. I hope he's offered another contract. Derby didn't have an equivalent and that was the difference. His positioning you cannot teach. I've always liked him. Also Pines was good in the first half and excellent in the second. He's one of those that the ball always ends up on his head. I have to travel from Southend in Essex to watch the reds. Today was worth it.

Totally agree and some real defence splitting balls too. All this and for the last half-dozen games he's also managed to walk the tightrope of not getting booked and triggering the two match ban that would follow.

Herbie's been our best player this season on a consistent basis and with Phillips now hitting maximum productivity with his goals and assists we really do have the best midfield in the division.

Mr Kitchen the ref, the ginger lino on the East Stand side, Paul Warne, Margaret Beckett, Robert Lindsay, Niall Horan, RADA and the National Association of Time-Wasters your boys took a hell of a beating!

Couldn't fathom Warne/Derby's approach, seemed to be all sh!thousery and time-wasting, play for free-kicks and corners, try to score from a set piece and then go back to even more extreme sh!thousery and time-wasting. Slightly bizarre given that when they ran Mendez-Laing at Durand at the end of the first half and when Wilson was attacking Cadden at the end of the second they had us on toast - more fool them that they preferred the time-wasting etc for most of the game.

The thing that infuriated me about Wildsmith’s time wasting was that he was doing it right from the first ten minutes and the ref went nowhere near him, and yet Roberts delayed a kick slightly towards the end and got a yellow for it.

People have said how the ref let things go and praised him for it. He did, but only if it was Derby doing the fouling. Awful referee, AGAIN!!

He was wasting 25-30 seconds every time he got the ball. He had a shocking game. I lost counts at the amount of kicks he messed up. Apparently he was ill though.

Just re-watched the Derby goal. I wasn't at the match but to me it looks like it was Adam Phillips who was marking their number 5 who headed it in to score. Don't know how Pines got the stick for it.

Just watched this. Derby playing like Rotherham. Lumping it in from set pieces. Can see why the Derby fans are disgruntled. Cosgrove showing he doesn't have a left foot at the end when he should have shot with the keeper up the other end of the pitch. Phillips getting to the header in front of Pines for his second goal. Sorry I missed it live now!

Better angle from the Barnsley official highlights. Phillips beaten by Bradley. Didn't half make up for it later though.

I thought the Barnsley on tour lad/presenter was a bit harsh against Cosgrove last week at Fleetwood.
It must be disheartening for strikers though, when it looks like they are never going to get a break with the refs.
