    I agree about midfield not working out as well as we all hoped but he was outstanding under big Val at LWB and deserves respect for that.

    He's not that good though is he? I can't think of a stand out game in league one this season where I thought he's class. And the hype he was given and still is he should have been a standout player week in week out.
    Him in center midfield this season blackpool in the pizza trophy and Derby away were embarrassingly bad.

    He was but that seems like a long time ago now! I think he was steady away at Millwall but clearly they didn't want to pay the £2m release clause. He needs to prove himself again because if he struggle at Sunderland then I can't see any championship clubs taking a punt on him at £2m.

    You’re only as good as your last game and he’s been poor IMO for quite some time, with an attitude to match. If he was as good as he thinks he is, he’d have secured a move away long before now. Forget what he did under Val, that was ages ago and he hasn’t kicked on for whatever reason. For me, we’re better off without him.

    Played first 60 mins, Fotmob rated him a 7.2, 3rd best player rating for Sunderland.

    Not going argue mate but have to say this, respect?.....where has been his respect for Barnsley supporters when he has clearly not given 100% in games many times over the last season or 2, I will leave it that mate, it is quite obvious he has too high an opinion of himself and I hope it works it out for him elsewhere because surely he shouldn’t play for us again after all this

    Get him off wage bill signed a new deal when we let Millwall loan him. One of the biggest earners I'd guess.

    He definitely needs to fit in and be loved somewhere but if it doesn't work at Sunderland I'd be chuffed to see a Barnsley player at the Euros.

    It's a tricky one because he's shown he can be very effective and also shown the opposite but none of us truly know what his attitude is like and what goes on behind the scenes.
    I'd be happy for him to go to the Euro's as our player and see what comes from that.

    He never impacts games. Had a multitude of chances and never turns up. Will carve out a decent but unspectacular career.
