Now the dust has settled was the Cotter/Cosgrove miss as bad as I remember?

At the end of the game with the keeper still in our half was cotter actually shooting when the ball managed to get halfway to the net diagonally? Or was it a pass?
And was Cosgrove's attempt at putting the ball in an empty net as bad as I thought it was?

Cosgrove tried to have a control touch to tee himself up to put it in, but instead shinned it 5 yards in front of himself. Standard.

I think Barry was just trying to put the ball into the mixer first and foremost, which worked. However Cosgrove's touch was absolutely atrocious. Had a man free to his left who would have had a very easy open net to shoot into if Cosgrove had found him.

I really want Cosgrove to do well, but he doesn't look like anything resembling a professional footballer, bar his kit and boots. Fair play to him for doing his university degree while he's playing, it could well come in handy.

Think they both just rushed it and panicked. No composure

Yes, Cosgrove's first touch was dreadful, like saying to the defender, "Here you are, I don't want it."

This is exactly what i think. I still really like him but God he looks awful, and concedes 8736 free kicks per game

I was expecting more from Sam Cosgrove but so far he has looked underwhelming.
Great Athletic build. Tall and strong. He could be the big lad we need up top but so far not too good.
He really needs to stop going for the man instead of the ball.
Think NC should put him with John Stead for a weeks worth of 1 on 1 training coaching and mentoring.
If Sam could find some of his Aberdeen form it would take us to the next level. Come on Sam!!
His control of the ball in that last minute on Saturday was indeed a great illustration of where his game is at right now.

Cotter was in prime Forrest Gump mode.
I swear he's got an earpiece in with Collins instructing him when to stop, when to turn left, when to turn right, when to kick it (I'd say pass, but he can't manage that so the instruction is just 'kick').
He'd be in Hull by now if it wasn't for the earpiece.

I think both knew I'd backed 2-1 before kick off, in a double with Blackpool to beat Bolton and purposely made a mess of it.

Cotter should have either lobbed it in or kept going as he was in front of the defenders. got caught in two minds and chose the wrong option. Cosgrove had a touch like a drunk in a brothel and cocked it up....still it ran the clock down on what was a top day at Oakwell..

Yes it was. He did a similar thing in the first half at Fleetwood. Makes Victor 's first touch look sublime in comparison. He should have done much better but I'm afraid he just ain't got it.

As soon as Barry set off I thought of M’Voto running the length of the pitch in similar circumstances. He got near their goal and missed. I had no confidence in a better outcome this time, and Cotter didn’t seem to have the confidence or ability to shoot from the half way line into an empty net. Just seen it again on different VLOGs and it looks like a failed attempt to reach the goal, but the Derby defender then said “here you are Sam - you have a go”. Cosgrove’s first touch was poor and the chance was gone to make it 3-1

    Fast forward to 10.40.

Cotters was a terrible shot, Cosgrove a ***** touch.. should have hit it first time with his left foot.
