Our friends at the ever efficient and reliable South Yorkshire Police are actually allowing Rotherham v Sheffield Wednesday to kick off at 3pm on a Saturday. Mrs works in Paddy Power in Rotherham town centre and is going in to work early in a bit to avoid too much of the crowd etc - and I couldn’t believe it when she said it’s a 3pm kick off. If it was us it’d be lunchtime today or even tomorrow. Or are they changing tack?
Maybe it's a fixture that hasn't generated much trouble in the past? Obviously I don't know for certain, but they clearly don't see it being a risk played at that time. Our games with Wednesday and Leeds are often moved, and often there's trouble either in town or around the stadium.
So changing KO times and days alters nothing in that respect then. Trouble makers will be exactly that choose what time ko is
I'm not saying it's having any effect, just that's presumably the reason. I don't think it's helped by the funnelling of home and away fans into each other just under the bridge going into town. Though I don't really see a way around it. here was goading from both sides last weekend and reports of coins being thrown by Barnsley fans from the top of the new bridge.
tbf once Rotherham score all the wendies will have gone home by half time so no chance of trouble after full time
