Ref watch - James Bell

A referee is assessed. He's a wendy. Admitted. But also a professional. Unless he has an hatred for other teams then why would it affect him. I would also think if anyone refereed a team they support. ( it'll never be allowed to my knowledge by the way) It'd more than likely be to the benefit of the opponents. As not to be seen biased.

Unlike a Barnsley linesman who stepped in once lol.

He was pish for the last 10 mins or so. Until then he'd missed plenty too. 1 from me.

 

Have to admit I wasn't there but from what I saw on IFollow Cos was unceremoniously bundled over, plus it was right under the Liner's nose.

 

Wow. I've literally never seen a more blatant shove.

Depends what angle of view you have got. I was b a ng opposite and all saw was 2 coming together down the wing. Were you there or watching on I Follow?

Seen alot worse. The pen was what it was you've seen them given when you have your hands all over a striker your asking for trouble.

The one where the header back is short and pine grabs some of the Bolton players shirt also could have been given on another day. The foul on Cosgrove should have been given. 5/10

 

I'm glad you brought this up. As I've not seen it mentioned elsewhere (I'm just working my way through the posts), I thought I must have been seeing things. Left Kane on the ground, stamped on him as he got up and ran forward, and play just carried on.

 

That's how I saw it. Right in front of the blind linesman too.

One that summed the refs performance up for me though was early on their number 4 went mental at our player. The ref called him over and had a lengthy chat about not committing violent conduct but chose not to book him. That was a game changing decision because it gave the player licence to do anything he wanted, and he did.

Then there was the utter **** show in the final seconds where he lost control completely and stood blowing his whistle wanting everyone to look at him before parading round the pitch booking anyone he could see.

 

Not long before the final whistle he booked O'Keeffe thinking he was Williams. He then sauntered across the pitch, spotted Williams, realised he'd booked the wrong player and booked Williams. A perfect example of his incompetence.

This happened because Jacob Williams broke from defence with all Bolton's players attacking. He beat the first player and building up to full pace tapped the ball past the final defender on the halfway line, which should have led to him sprinting towards goal with not a chance of another Bolton player getting anywhere near him.

But he was body checked. The Bolton player took one for the team. He couldn't tackle Williams so he fouled him and was ready to accept the inevitable booking (I would hope a Barnsley player in such circumstances would have done exactly the same). Except there was no booking because the ref didn't even give a foul. This was an obvious professional foul, the sort of challenge that players hold their hands up and acknowledge, and the ref couldn't even get that right. Williams was understandably livid and let the ref know exactly how he felt. I was sat quite close to the action and thought Williams was going to deck him. I felt like jumping over the wall and decking him myself. The ref responded by booking O'Keeffe...

There is no use on a football field for this man.

 

First half I thought he was equally soft on both sides. The less said about the second the better!
