Atmosphere is generally ****. It feels like the fans are waiting for something to go wrong. I sit in the east stand so obviously I am not the solution. But anything that could improve the atmosphere would be good. I think it’s generally the job of the team to get the fans going but regardless our fans are rubbish 80% of the time.
I hate the massive intake of breath when we pass it back to the keeper. Some people actually did a little scream when he then did a perfect pass to one of our players (can’t remember who now). They’d make anyone nervous reacting like that every time.
It feels like some people would rather us just punt it to the oppositions centre half rather than try to play football. Often it ends up the same but I’d rather us try.
For me we don't have players with the ability to play it out of defence consistently without making costly errors but I actually think that's largely the midfields problem not the defenders. Philips very rarely shows for a ball and Connell comes far too deep and never creates any space. He will often be stood 2 yards away from an opposition player asking for the ball which means he then has to make an hurried pass back to the guy who just gave him the ball or to one of the other back three. With players giving so little options for the short passes then I think it's a largely pointless exercise and you may as well hit a fast ball over the top or down the wings. Our most successful moments for me have been when we've attacked teams with pace. In fact I don't think anyone in the league can cope when we do it yet we seem to prefer the slow methodical stuff across the back and ironically then hit a long punt anyway
