Why do some supporters get so personal and spiteful to our players.Russell for example I hope to god he doesn't read some of the drivel on here or he'd need mental health therapy. In my view theres just no need for it.They're doing a job in the public eye that no one else on this board can do. My parents always said "if you've nothing nice to say don't say anything". By the way well played last night Jon.We rarely lose when you start a game.
I don’t think anyone berates them (much) for honest mistakes. It’s the inconsistency in the way they apply the laws. They bring that on all by themselves. Just treat all players of all teams equally. Oh, except Sheff Weds of course
It angers me as well, at what utter nasty drivel has been posted on here this season, about Sam Cosgrove.
They aren't immune from criticism, where its necessary or relevant but some people as you say resort to personal abuse and pure hatred tyraids of anger which is totally ridiculous. Played well last night did Russell, sprayed some lovely balls about, broke up play and offered some physicality, pleased he got on the score sheet too.
Someone a few rows behind us moaned constantly and loudly last night. Started with Carlisles first goal, went on to hammer Collins, Williams and Russell, went a bit quiet when we went in front, then turned his ire on the officials. At 3-2 he then moved back to Collins and his substitutions. Any win feels sweet when you’ve been forced to endure someone’s lack of self control for 90 minutes, regardless of the performance.
People also forget that there is another team out there doing their damn best to stop us. Many fans (not all) rarely give credit to the opposition.
I think I might have been sat behind the said individual or a similar individual: My personal favourites on the moanathon were (and no particular order): not being good enough for the Championship if we go up that we should have won more comfortably even though according to them every player was poor don't play enough forward passes even though any misplaced forward pass was berated any player who wasn't running was accussed of lack of effort and not trying no player wants to stay at Barnsley as they all want to leave so something must be wrong The performance wasn't flawless but I do wonder sometimes if some of our fanbase understand what the supporting part of being a supporter actually entails.
There's got to be a fine balance. Players absolutely should be criticised if they're playing poorly or "not trying" or whatever. But some of the stuff gets ridiculously personal.
Did you watch the reds vlog from the game? One of them had given up as soon as he’d seen the team sheet.
Gobshites. Everyone’s got a social media account & loads of people fancy themselves as vloggers these days. If I came out with some of the nonsense I read on twitter & Facebook in the pub I’d expect to be told to ‘shut up you f*cking idiot’.
