I’d hope we get more than 2 points from our last 3 home games. That said, it’d be some achievement to get 11 from our last 5 away.
What a weird season it’s been. If you base expectation on how we’re playing, you’d aim low BUT we’ve been unremarkable for the most part, yet we’ve only lost 7 games and not mathematically out of automatic contention. Theres definitely room for improvement and that should be their focus because unlikely as it looks for top 2, we have to muster something to take into the playoffs.
So many parallels to last season. We beat Wendies thinking second spot was going to be chased down. Lost to Ipswich and faded. This time substitute Derby for Wendies, Lincoln for Ipswich. Not sure we have enough in the tank this time. Obviously hoping I am very wrong.
I'm certan now we'll end up in the playoffs. Getting Pines & Jalo fit for those would be key for me & keeping the rest of the squad in good shape. We've badly missed Kane & need to get Cole scoring again.
I’ve honestly never felt i was watching a promotion winning team this season we just aren’t good enough in both boxes but i would obviously love to be proven wrong.
I dont think it's been a problem in the oppositions box. But 100% in our own box defensive, we are so poor at giving teams the impetus by scoring first.
The thing for me, is that whilst form going into the playoff helps, it’s what you do when you’re in them. Wednesday last season was a good example. Lincoln storming ahead with goals etc - but could be burnt out by the time the playoffs arrive. The amount of teams I’ve seen promoted, whom I’d class as ‘average’ is considerable. Derby don’t look great this season, but still grind them out. Swansea the other season were nothing special - but still ground out results. I think that’s the positive this season with Collins. Under Duff, when we were poor, we got beat. This season, we still pull off a draw or usually a win. Not pretty, but it’s the points that matter. I’m comfortable we’ll be in play-offs either way. Automatic too far to reach now, but we won’t slip out of them either. Frustrating, but considering the changes we have had to deal with, the Play Offs is a great achievement - but obviously means nothing unless we win them.
I still fancy a twist yet. Enough to get everyone excited again, but probably not enough to actually get us into the automatics.
What's your definition of "current form" ? It looks like you're usinfg the results from our last three home games as the prediction for our remaining three games and, probably the same for our last 5 away games - is this true ? No big deal, just interested to know.....
