Do you think Cardiff fans shouldn't have been upset when the owner changed their colours from Blue to Red? Do you think Hull City fans shouldn't have been upset when the owner planned to change their name to Hull Tigers?

Football is first and foremost an entertainment product, but secondary to that football teams represent the places and the fans who support them and I don't think it's strange that those fans take pride in a shirt or a name or a flag.

So people in Ukraine aren't fighting for their sovereignty? And in this country people aren't holding and waving Palestinian flags protesting at what's going off in Gaza?

Must have dreamt it then, your seriously trying to say if you were to ask someone from one of those countries what their flag meant they'd say its just a piece of coloured material on a pole?

They aren’t dying for those flags, that’s mental.

They are dying for corruption, money, jingoism and propaganda.

The flag has literally nothing to do with it.

Nice to hear Kier speaking up on it. He struggles to answer other things though like when he's been asked many times what is a woman.

I'm trying to say that they're clearly not fighting "for just those coloured pieces of material on poles" as you put it.

Do you think if the citizens of Palestine were offered a resolution where all their aims were achieved but they had to change a bit of their flag to purple they'd turn it down?

Does the colour of the flag actually mean anything? Is it for a specific cause?

I’m not particularly bothered one way or the other but it just seems a stupid thing to do. They must have known it would rub a lot of people up the wrong way.

If changing colour of your Nations flag is supposedly insignificant, then at next international there might as well be flags with Green, Blue, Yellow, Black or whatever colour CROSSES on them, that would look good eh?......and to go one further, next time we have a scarf day at Oakwell let’s all take Blue/white, Black/white and Green/white scarfs to wave!.......because it doesn’t matter these days according to some on here by the sounds lol

As mentioned above, we DID have an England shirt with various different colour flags on it, about 10 years ago, and nobody bat an eyelid.

You're talking about changing the entire colour scheme of a team though. That hasn't happened here. They've added a small, 2 inch cross which has blue and purple on it. That'd be like making Toby Tyke Gold on the back of our current 3rd shirt... Which they've actually done.

    It really doesn't matter.

Nobody is changing the colour of the flag. It's a small motif on a shirt that represents a part of our flag and it's been modernised somewhat as a design choice. I don't see the problem with that.

Why is nobody kicking off that it's not on a white background?

Flags are symbolic though, people become very defensive and attached, you've seen over the years invading armies take down flags and replace with their own and people would lay their lives down fighting against said invaders.
The people of Ukraine and Palestine would shudder at the thought, imagine replacing the yellow and blue of Ukraine and someone says can we put some red in there? So whilst it's crazy to a degree they represent an awful lot to alot of people.
Think back over the course of history at the amount of blood shed over land and territory, I don't see a line forming with countries queuing up to change their national flags.

Looking at Photo's from Paddy's Day it appears to me that many over here as well as Ireland don't know what the St Patrick's flag is or looks like, because it ain't the Tri colour ha ha

All but 26 countries have changed their flags since 1900. And we're not changing the flag - it's a motif on a football shirt.

Just been listening to talk sport mate, at least half a dozen former international footballers all saying its a daft thing to do and they took pride in wearing their national shirt(even a former Scottish international says its a stupid move), I reckon they speak for a lot of professional footballers, Dave Seaman even commented that “ next they will be wanting to remove the 3 Lions crest”, and they don’t come much more patriotic than Seaman. They should have just left it alone, was no reason to change for me. Or would you have changed it btw? and if so why?

It isn't a rainbow, it has nothing to do with LGBT, equality isn't politics, and posts like yours show exactly why that particular topic is necessary in sport.
