Do you mean in regards to him not playing for Poland? I don't think he's had a call up since he moved to Huddersfield.
That move he wanted so he could play in tournaments and for his national team regularly. That went well.
Should have stayed wi us, if Styles could keep getting caps when we weren't even playing him, there's hope for anyone.
Can't blame him for leaving, we were an absolute basket case of a club at the time. He was great for us, clearly too good for league 1 and it would have been career suicide had he not left when he did.
I thought you were joking then, but he's scored 9 this season. Some achievement for a centre half playing for a club in the bottom 3.
Absolutely but what a bad move, look at his team mates - Morris, Woodrow, Anderson, Mowatt etc all at better clubs. Huddersfield are that barmy he's probably on more than Woodrow and Morris. Folk on here are quick to comment on the higher salary and setting themselves up for life and l often question is it money or the career they want? Would he rather have Woodrows wage but be in the Premiership? I would.
i don't blame any player looking at their future finances / security. It can all end with a bad injury at some stage, or just a loss of form. It's a very competitive environment. I think most of us would do the same, if we were talented enough to play at a high level of football. He's bagged 9 league goals for Huddersfield this season & is top scorer as a CB, so his future looks solid at Championship level IMO. I wish the lad well. Not sure why he's not got the national call up, but club football is the bread & butter & there will be a lot of butter on his loaf.
But it's easy to say that in hindsight. They'd just lost the play-off final at the time and were probably one of the favourites to go up last season. The likelihood is, he'll move on again in the summer and at least stay in the Championship. I'm not sure Mowatt is a fair comparison either, he held a place down when big Val was the West Brom manager, but struggled after and found himself out on loan last season. He's having a better season this year in a fairly average side (despite league position).
But they're up there though challenging at the right end of the table, not in a relegation scrap. Mowatt got a much better move.
Again though, it's easy to say that in hindsight. Though it doesn't matter really, the point is neither were going to stay and went onto better things.
Agree but l don't think it's hindsight with Huddersfield, they finished 20th and 18th in the two seasons prior to their play off finish, it was a flash in the pan like ours. He might be back at Oakwell next season.
Easy to say this when it's offered to other people, mate. I've always said same, I'd stay at Barnsley. It'd be a completely different ball game had it been offered to me though I imagine. Either way, regardless of crap they've been, they've still consistently been above us for a while now.
I think if they go down he will get sold. Leicester were linked in Jan I'm sure his agent will get him a move. 2 relegations on his c.v won't look good though.
I don't think relegation makes a dot of difference anymore bud with how much analytics are in the game around individual players, look at Ramsdale, he got relegated 3 times and then got a huge move to Arsenal. As long as Helik's underlying stats are good enough there will be plenty of teams looking at him if they go down, perhaps even if they don't... He's certainly a better player than bottom of championship in my opinion
Think Cov, Sunderland and a Middle Eastern side were after him as well if I remember the rumours rightly.
