Allow a manager (whoever it is) to pick a formation and system of their choice they think is capable of winning an upcoming game. When recruiting players think about options that give the manager the opportunity to change things and not be pigeonholed by one system recruitment. When your inept former partners along with yourselves came to the club you set out we'd play a system and certain way with gengenpress under Daniel Stendal, it worked but that squad could have played any system and gone up. If we are to make the playoffs and be successful it has to change, this system is flawed we haven't the quality of players to execute how it should be played and we will drop out of the top 6 at this rate, we are ridiculously easy to work out. If I'm wrong and you are giving Neil Collins free reign on system/formation then someone needs to nip down to his office for a chat, because that today was as bad as it gets.
Since they took over we’ve had a promotion , Championship playoff, 1st Div playoff final and we are currently in the playoffs 8 points and a game in hand on 6th . Form has deserted us over the last month against teams near the bottom but some of our fans need to get a grip
I have tried to think like this and tried to stay positive and get behind Collins but after the last home match I needed to be convinced. After today, I have zero faith; that negative display was so so bad.
If we fluke they are gonna have to be quick to find and entire squad capable of keeping us up. Our so called better players rarely stand out even at this level.
Come on. I’ve defended him previously but the bloke is clueless. We’ve lost 7 (SEVEN) home games in the worst third tier in living memory. He’s never once tried to change the shape and formation at home all season. Any coach with even half a brain can work us out. It’s all so slow and predictable. He was always a strange appointment after Duff and it’s just not working. He has to go in the summer….simple as.
Another message for the board is that you better have a fantastic summer transfer window. Either we stay in this division, which looks the most likely, and lose half of our team due to contracts and loan players going back so need to replace them. Or we go up and need to sign a good number of players for the step up.
The people who need to get a grip are the ones who have witnessed our home form, where we have failed to win 12 of 21 games, losing 7, with no discernible change in approach, tactics, shape, no intent to increase pace or momentum in the play - and still defend the manager, the board, whoever. The last two performances are totally and completely unacceptable but in no way surprising. Performances at Oakwell have been a disgrace this season. In what is let’s face it the weakest league one in many a year - so weak in fact that we have maintained a top six position in it despite being a weak imitator of the dog and duck second eleven in many games. The current incarnation of the board make good noises and deserve a chance but the manager they appointed needs to go. He’s not the answer. And if he is the answer we are asking the wrong question.
Absolutely bang on...but for some reason...I still want yo give Collins more time. I would also add to the home stats.....that we have "got away with it" too many times, we come out of a game and thought.....how on earth did we win that one?
The first one controls the second one the only people going to Oakwell with any confidence this season are the opposition.
I try and watch his instructions on the sideline and to be quite honest i don't understand most of it, but what i do see in it, is negativety
We are hard team to watch at home / why keep 5 at back rigidly when we are playing as poorly as we’ve been playing lately . Not sure what plan A is but there’s definitely no other plans either
The main strategy of the club is sell to survive. Lots of folk on here accept that, and tell you that is the reality of life. So the team is weakened every season. Then a manager comes along and over-achieves with what is left, leaving us in a position where it will be difficult not to make the playoffs. Football is about results. How can anyone criticize Collins in this situation? The guy is massively over-achieving with what he has been given. His side is raw, yet looks nailed-on for fifth position. What he has done with the resources available will not go unnoticed by 'bigger' clubs.
