What is your most happiest Barnsley moment I'm not old enough to remember the premier league but my happiest moment is when Rankin scored to keep us up. I was 10 and my dad even gave me my first beer at home lol.
There’s been loads in my career watching us…… Premiership tops the lot but…….. Fa cup semi final Beating Liverpool Beating Chelsea Beating Man Utd 2 Wembley wins One that comes closet to the Premiership euphoria was when we stopped in 2020……..a still get goosebumps when I see it now
Explains a lot about the content of your posts on a matchday! Although I was there for the Premier League season, a lot of it was hard to watch, at least until the mid-point in the season. I still think the 7-1 demolition of Huddersfield was a moment of magic where the football was just sublime.
The Bradford game to get the Prem. Will never have a better moment at a football match than that roar I heard when Marcelles goal went in. Howards winner against Liverpool was a similar feeling.
Rankin scoring in last minute was incredible, Premier league against Bradford but I was only 9 at the time . Beating Birmingham in play offs 4-0 in first leg even though I feared for my life after the game Wembley wins are great but I never enjoy the game itself too much at state ( with the exception the Oxford game because they wasn’t as much riding on it ) compared to play off games . Walsall game in play offs at home incredible atmosphere Also Wigan away to get into the play offs . When we went 1-0 down I thought we had blown it .
Mine was last season at Wembley when despite everything thrown at us, the team and fans said **** you and gave it everything. As the months have passed I’ve felt the sadness of the defeat more. But it took weeks for me to feel anything but pride. The obvious happy moment was April 26 1997 for anyone who witnessed it at a fitting age. Incredible. Shout out to Wembley 2000 also. Not the result, but just seeing my team there, right before it was getting demolished. It was an actual dream come true. Little nods to seeing us win twice at the new version. And Brentford away 2020 was mind blowing.
I was very fortunate to be there in a working capacity. To be on the field as soon as the full time whistle blew. In and amongst the release of emotions. Unreal.
A can still remember to this day stood in front of tele like I was on a terrace for last half hour…..when we scored……..well……..
Yeah really we should’ve lost then continued to drop through the leagues till we ended up in the NEC……..
Thats my worst moment in nearly 40 years of following the team. Not being there on top of not being there against Forest the week before because of the outrageous rules.
It's got to be the win against Grimsby to clinch promotion from the 4th division in Clarke's first season. The atmosphere that night was the best ever.
Think Brentford game was same day as Liverpool won the league - there were loads of fireworks going off outside to celebrate. I know they were for that but I shared that moment for us
Yeah, f*** that happy memory. We're 5th in the league and on the best away run in club history. I wish we'd f****** lost. Clarke f****** Oduor.
Far too many to list, but beating Grimsby 2-1 and winning promotion under Clarky was my first taste of success as a 13 year old. Huge crowd for that level and the pitch invasion that followed. Fantastic start to a few seasons of great games, players and attendances. First notable away win was the following season. 2-0 at Hillsborough. Kept us in the large courtyard after the game with the Wednesday fans baying outside and my mate had a police horse step on his toe. Most memorable was waiting in a huge queue at Wadsley Bridge for the special and our players coach crept past us up the hill, all waving and punching the air - what a day. They are the furthest back for me, but stand out for the chaotic nature of football back then. Huge crowds being bundled into trains, coaches and tranny vans. Always a bit scared but that was part of the thrill, just like a few thousand being walked up from station to some away ground singing all the way. Ten feet tall in the safety of the escort!
That whole period was insane. I could only have an hour a day outside (for exercise, dog walking or whatever). Officially. But because I worked in football I could mix with swathes of people and travel the country.
