Joined the RAF in 1973. Met & married WRAF lass, from Wales, had a posting to RAF Brawdy (Pembrokeshire) for 4 years. Left the RAF 1995. Worked in Scotland for a couple of years then went to RAF St Athan (Vale of Glamorgan) 1997 to work for MoD as an aircraft engineer. Been here since ,so lived now a total 31 years in Wales, so Dragon (Welsh emblem) & Tyke (BFC nickname) seemed to fit the bill. Before anyone starts I Was born in Barnsley Becketts 1955,and lived and was brought up in Hoyland until I joined up late 1973. So thats DragonTyke guys :)

Living here in SW London, I wanted to sign up, many years back, as London Tyke.

But somebody'd beat me to it, so switched it to Capital Tyke.

Along with Dragon Tyke (#161) think there are another three fortunate to have links to Cymru - Y Goch (the Red) Menai Tyke and myself.

Taff derives form the River Taff which flows through Cardiff. For some reason some Welsh people find the term 'Taff' offensive - I don't!

and at the risk of lowering the tone ---
The term "sheep-shagger" is used to refer to a Welsh person because of the prevalence of sheep and sheep farming in Wales1. However, when Welsh people were caught stealing sheep from English people, they would say that they were only taking the sheep for shagging, in order to avoid fines for stealing2. - not many people know that.

Originally from Darfield. Found out a couple of years ago that 138 young lads from Darfield went to war in the first world war and never came back. Given the size of the place at the time that's a dreadful ratio. The 138 is my own admittedly not very good tribute to them. But at least they aren't forgotten.

Wasn't there a "Danger Nile Ranger" on here at one point? (might have been QP Ranger). Something to do with the Full Ponty...

Born n bred in Harrogate but supported the Reds long enough to shout “ILEY OUT!”

My dad originated from Ward Green… it’s his fault that I’ve carried this burden for all these years.

2001 - 2004 was UREDZ.CO.UK ......... the one I remember spending a LOT of time on. Although my first memories are from during or just after Prem Season, where you could pop into 'side rooms' for private chats, away from the main forum. Rooms like the lounge, the snug, the outpost seem to ring a bell.

In fact I think I posted as Mactyke briefly during this period.

You just don't get posters like Zenmaster Ness any more; even more rare is thread titles like
"Bruce Dyer out - thigh strain caused by rogue ****** dog"
