Was sat opposite him for two hours on a train out of London today. Chatted to him the whole way. Really, really down to earth guy. Said he loved his time with Barnsley and wanted to stay another season. Inevitably spoke really highly of Bobby Hassell. I resisted the temptation to get a selfie!

Selfie or it didn't happen! Seriously, he comes across quite well and down to earth in interviews

I was tempted, just thought having had a really nice relaxed chat for 2 hours, not really even about football, it would have seemed a bit weird. Luckily my partner was with me to verify to my mates that it happened!

Stewie is easily one of the best loan players we've ever had.

Loved Trippier when he was here and he’s had a great career to be fair to him.

I could easily be mistaken but is he the player we didn’t sign in favour of getting Scott Wiseman?

Yes bud, apparently so. Keef thought Wiseman was better. Nothing dodgy....

Had a pint with him once in Laganas in Zante. He was doing some guest work for a mate who was running one of the booze cruises. I told him I was a Barnsley fan starstruck and said his free kick against Donny was unreal. He disappeared and came back with a pint. Top bloke.

Yeahhh. Him and Flitcroft both certainly liked to sign their mates.

Did he have anything to say about the nightlife of Barnsley? Him & Butterfield loved a Wednesday night out

Trippier always acknowledged our fans at the end of a game in a good way when he played against us. Fantastic player.

Yep, said it was great! Just got the impression he'd really enjoyed his time with us. Obviously him going to Burnley worked out great for him with the Eddie Howe connection.

Tried not to ask too much though and we just laughed about normal everyday life rather than football. Him and my girlfriend have a shared interest in true crime and conspiracy theories unfortunately

I bet it was the time of his life.

Out boozing all the time whilst playing football for a living in the days before social media took off. At the end of that season he did a full month in Malia. A week there nearly killed me

Didn't he once say (in a podcast?) that his time at Barnsley was like being on a 6-month stag do?
