For the clear majority of BBSers that don't want the gaffer to be sacked, I thought it'd be interesting & fun to find out when you'd offer him a contract extension. My vote is for when we win at Wembley, as I expect Christmas would be too late....but what do you think? PS taken the liberty of restricting it to this calendar year, so it's ok not to cast a vote if you'd need longer to make up your mind & let his contract run down (also covering the scenarios where we don't make the playoffs or the Championship (before I'm ridiculed )).
End of the season, whatever the outcome we should review then. No point changing things now. I've little confidence, like most of us at the moment. Let's let it run it's course now & see where we end up.
If he gets a contract extension due to getting us promoted, I would hope that's a sign from the board that they will sufficiently back him, because they wouldn't want to pay him off if their signings fail.
If we were fortunate to win at Wembley he'd be off in a flash. His way of sticking two fingers up at the fans. The club would say he'd been headhunted.
When we beat Manchester City 10-0 in the Champions League Final with Watters and Cosgrove getting 5 goals each and Roberts not having to make a save In the Match due to our 3 centre halves having Harland Foden etc in their back pockets. In others words never.
I honestly don't think he would stick 2 fingers up at the fans metaphorically or otherwise @Mr Badger . I think he understands how some fans can be.and take the rough with the smooth. I think he's a lot to learn and that he knows that, I honestly. think hello stick to the task in hand next season whether or not we get promoted.
Has he ever had a "Neill Collins Red and White army" chant, or a "Neill, Neill, give us a wave".......despite being in the play off positions all year, no ones really taken to him have they.
The main issue this summer is recruitment. Roberts, Williams, Cadden, Kane, Cole & McAtee are all (I’m assuming) leaving. I think we can all agree that we’re lacking the squad depth we’ve had in other seasons so we need their replacements to be successful signings. 6 new first teamers is huge upheaval & to me is far more important than who the manager is.
Add to that Cundy is out of contract. I would expect us to try and shift Watters, Shaw, Dallas, McCarthy and Lopata. Maybe accept bids for Jalo and Connell. It's not beyond the realms of possibility for a dozen players to leave this summer.
Who on earth is going to bid for Connell? I honestly can’t remember the last time he had a good game.
