Lot better than I feared, played well to be fair. You just know Pompey won’t have to do a lot to score again though. They’ve also got loads of options on the bench to change things. Fingers crossed we keep this up anyway….

 

A very much improved performance so far. But it seems the ref is ignoring all their fouls....oh well.

 

Reading this thread we are getting a roasting.

What I'm seeing is top of table restricted to only a couple of shots, an away team pressing like crazy, mixing it up and playing like they want to be there. Not only that, we have created by far more chances and realistically we should be winning.

I didn't hold much hope, but I'm very happy with what I've seen compared to what I thought would happen when I saw the team sheet.

We've been good and the better side. Cotter bombing the wings well. Cole looks like he's had a rocket in his arse.

We’ve looked dangerous going forward and are getting some good numbers forward. Still look suspect defensively but that was always going to be the case.

For long periods there Barnsley dominated. Shame they couldn't finish off some of those chances. Grant looks very good in midfield. He can count himself very unlucky he hasn't been featuring. He's like an anti-Russell, always wanting to go forward. The only player who has looked shaky has been Earl, farting around with it. Portsmouth by comparison looked rattled at times, making some poor mistakes.

Obviously the second half might be a different story, but this game at half time, is still winnable, or drawable lol.

 

Decent first half. Started well but immediately gave away the equaliser and seemed lost for the following 10 minutes. Fortunately the injury to their player allowed us to regroup and I think we've been the better side for the last 20 minutes.

We seem to lose all composure when we go a goal ahead until the other team has scored too. Slightly unfortunate with the equaliser, because there were a couple of really lucky deflections in Portsmouth's favour, though good sides generally get those. We managed to get a foothold back in the game though which is good to see, and I'd argue that we've been the better side. We've certainly had the better chances. A little bit more composure from McAtee and we could have been ahead at the break. A lot to be happy about though. Playing like this, we stand a chance of getting promoted.

 

Imho...done well ...I thought they were going to proper be all over us, especially after the equalizer.
I'm still expecting a glut of defensive mistakes to come but we have played well in that first half. I'll be made up with a point...fingers crossed.

We've been by far the better team.

Had McAtee (and Philips to a lesser extent) been up to the standard of the rest, we'd be cruising.
