I’m struggling to think of many other hobbies that you could engage in, that bring such distress and unhappiness?

sadomasochism perhaps. It’s certainly a strange one.

Once you accept that it's just football, you enjoy it much more.

Think of how euphoric the good times feel though. And there have been good times. It's just part and parcel.

I've enjoyed it on the whole for the last 50 years. People don't have to continue to support the reds. We're not under duress. Probable better if a few slink off quietly and find something else to do for their own mental health.

If we win at Wembley in a month's time that's likely to be pretty enjoyable.

It’s painful but we are rarely boring. Tonight I’m gutted but live for the next high ( if there is one! )

Actually enjoyed tonight far more than in recent weeks but I think that's what makes the result even more disappointing

Yes because the high moments are something else, don't think fans of big teams that win all the time could ever understand.

When you make it about spending time with your mates and/or family and just enjoying the days out, maybe a few drinks or not, maybe a stop over or not, then it's enjoyable. I want us to win but I'm well past caring to the point where it ruins my day or mood. Wembley stung like hell for a day or so but nah, enjoy the social side, the day out, the chance to travel.

Call me a softy but since having my son and taking him to games with me it doesn’t seem to bother me as much the result I just love the time we have together .

Of course I want us to do well but never let it spoil my weekend

It has been a difficult season to enjoy, particularly as I have only been to the home games this season, but I’ve watched most of the away games on iFollow. I thought we played well tonight though, and against the league champions. A schoolboy error, the kind of mistake strikers make in the box, and some awful defending from a corner did for us, but there was much to enjoy from our performance, not least Cole finally getting back on the scoresheet. Funnily enough, I’d said to my lad that I could see them getting a penalty, precisely one second before they got one. So I got blamed for it as if it was me that had gone diving in!

Except there's every chance. We'll be playing either Peterborough or Bolton in the semis. We haven't lost to Bolton this season and Peterborough can be even more defensively awful than us at times.

The final is a one-off, and you don't even have to be the better side to win, as Sheffield Wednesday categorically proved last season.

Exactly this. Secure a play off place and we've every chance. It'd be nice to take some sort of form into the play-offs, but I've seen sides stumble into them in the past and still go up. I've also seen sides miss out on automatic promotion on the last day, and crumble in the play-offs. Aside from Lincoln, nobody around us are really setting the world alight, and even they're on course to miss out as it stands.

It’s the best thing isn’t it. To be at Wembley, watching us lift trophies, with my son and daughter decked out in their Reds finery was something that dreams are made of. And now, going to the match or sitting on the sofa with him, watching on the laptop, makes me feel like my grandad must have felt, when I started going down with him…yikes…47 years ago! I love it how passionate he gets about it, when he joins in with the singing, and how he hates all referees and linesmen. I mean, how could he be more of a Reds fan than that!

What I don’t like is him turning 14 the other day, adding £100 on to our season tickets!

Defo not a chance with our defending.
